She fits in Brawl and Poke (since they removed the damage drop, she became more viable in Poke)
Orisa is a denier, she marks the enemy and prevents them from doing anything and with her sustain she stays alive with few resources from other heroes
For example, Rein in Brawl needs a lot of resources to survive and advance, Orisa needs less and still has CDs that prevent the enemy from advancing
In Poke, since she doesn’t have a damage drop, she can spam shots and when the fight starts to get more intense, she can stay alive with CDs, relieving the stress of the supports and giving them space to focus on DPS
She’s a poke tank that can also brawl in close quarters with her kit.
You are a glorified bullet sponge that trying to take all the attention and abilities of the enemy to give your team space to make the kill.
Set your target up to be near a wall and spear slam them for a damaging combo. Or use spear to reset a tank’s position further back that wants to get close like a Junkerqueen.
Your weakness is you are slow and don’t have the tools to protect your teammates that well.
That’s what the enemy will usually pick on you for.
Or take advantage of bullying you if you don’t understand how to rotate her cooldowns.
And know that for now beams counter her spin. So Zarya loves to run up on you. That’s one of the tanks you want to save that spear for to push her back.
Her gun is decent but it takes practice to deal with mobile targets. But I use it more to shut down an escape route to herd the enemy into my DPS’s line of fire.
But as you said she’s got versatile play styles. Use her how you like. Adapt when the enemy decides to counter you.
It’s very circumstantial (in your example, yes, it’s a good time to go for it), but most of the time it’s better to use it as a defensive way, to reposition/retreat or to repel the enemy/push enemy towards your team.
I wouldn’t say she can’t be aggressive with Javelin Spin, but
Dive tanks should be able to go in and out, with the minimum resources, and they usually have low CDs because of this.
Orisa, If you go, you won’t be able to get back without costing a lot of your team’s resources, so be careful.
Orisa’s weak point is heroes with mobility.
If the enemy team is diving and you can’t interact, trading backline kills can work, but with so much mobility it’s difficult. Orisa doesn’t have enough mobility to chase or a kit that has a lot of damage to kill before they run away, so usually the best thing to do is peel for your team or change heroes.
Obviously this depends on the map, if the map is favorable for diving , orisa will have problems, if it is not orisa it can work
