Either the game is super dead and they made the matchmaking loose to enable fast queues, or devs just want people to have 50% winrate at any cost

The issue, from my point of view, is the accelerating MMR changes when you start winning. That shouldn’t happen—it should be constant. That’s probably part of what causes some of the “bad feeling” matches that seem rigged, because going on a winning streak is going to likely cause your MMR to overshoot and match you against what it thinks are fair opponents but who really are much better. It seems like a forced loss.
It does seem, at least anecdotally, like they loosened up the quality restrictions to maximize queue time efficiency. Lots of folks have observed that they’re getting people outside their normal skill range. Part of that seems to be related to how Blizzard is qualifying fair matches in terms of team average MMR rather than having a consistent MMR all around, but it also seems to have taken a turn for the worse
i hear the op in the MM it is stomp or be stomped, but i will say it makes those decent back and fourth games all the more satisfying.
ML7 is on 8 losses 0 wins today. Had the same enemy tank 2x in a row who’s silver, and a plat tank on his team and diamond co-support.
Enemy tank did not play like silver… So as we already established SR means absolutely nothing, like Blizz basically confirmed, but I’m not sure if it’s actually matching MMR role to role properly like they said it was going to.
So I dunno if I’d called it “rigged”, but I don’t think it’s working properly at all.
It is both.
They loosen the matchmaking to have all the q times looks like there are a lot of players and at the same time the poor match quality becomes more obvious because of the lack of players.

It definitely isn’t working properly, I’ve been tossed into COMPETITIVE games (keep in mind the account I’m currently on is around platinum), and the enemy team consisted of:
Grandmaster 3 Roadhog
Platinum 4 Cassidy
Gold 3 Symmetra
Silver 5 Mercy
Diamond 4 Kiriko
My team consisted of:
Top 500 Orisa
Grandmaster 3 Sojourn
Silver 1 Cassidy
BRONZE 2 LUCIO
And me, around Platinum 1 Support
Some of that makes a little bit of sense but… some of it does not.

… 0 - 10 vs dafran and shadder… close game.
Or simpler explanation: there is no rigged matchmaking and it is all in your head as a coping mechanism for why you lost.

I can accept my skill limitations, but when I am the best player in the lobby facing off against horrible Overwatch players and I still lose despite getting 2 to 3 picks every fight, I do not really feel like blaming myself because my self esteem is not horrifically low. You do you, fam, but it is pretty obvious that I might struggle against a master TTV stack when I have a gold stack on my team because I have already accepted my skill limitations.
I try to focus on myself and that works quite well. I am rarely having a bad game, personally. But the amount of games where I have to go on the defensive as my team gets stomped is just far out of the ordinary. That is not a conspiracy. And I have just as many games where I win when I could probably just role play as a pacifist pig and my team would still crush.

We are all in the same matchmaker. Maybe I would complain if I checked the rank of everyone in the lobby every game and if I also wasn’t satisfied with my skill and my rank

The exodus of players is one of the causes, and every day everything will get worse until they fix the mistakes they have made.
because that master’s player is probably off rolling an isnt playing at a master’s level.
this isnt “oh no he’s masters!” its “oh no he’s a masters tank but is a plat dps” kinda problem
most ppl dont play every role, so they are gold/plat when they off role and if they dont play enough they will not climb.
What if i tell you he was masters in every role?
id be impressed that you could tell that when the stats in this season are bugged lol
but this would also depend on your mmr. if your mmr is diamond being placed with a master’s isnt too odd since there arnt that many diamond+ players but if your mmr is plat its alot more rare and across 6 years (including during ow2) ive never been placed on a team with plat and lower players.
at the end of the day it all comes down to MMR, the shown rank doesnt matter. if your mmr is diamond and his mmr is masters you will meet eventually.
