Possible dps queue time fix

Split the dps into two different queues: hitscan and projectile.

Right now the dps is split evenly with 8 hitscan and 8 projectile:

Hitscan:
Ashe
Bastion
McCree
Reaper
Soldier 76
Sombra
Tracer
Widowmaker

Projectile:
Doomfist (he himself is basically a projectile)
Genji
Hanzo
Junkrat
Mei
Pharah
Symmetra
Torbjorn

This sounds acceptable to me and actually places them in categories that make sense as opposed to the previous offense and defense it was before.

How does this even remotely address queue time? It’s actually just going to make queue time longer because there’s more categories.

I think returning to offense and defense heroes would be easier. It’s a good pharah buff though lol

as jeff said before, Adding MORE variables would only lengthen the time, not decrease it

Because it would split the dps players into different queues thus splitting the time in half. I’m saying add a fourth queue box to the menu. Tank, projectile, hitscan, support.

Separating projectile and hit-scan would make zero sense.

The heroes don’t automatically have different play-styles or preform different roles within a team comp solely on the basis of their weapon style. There’s no rhyme or reason to dividing them this way.

All your suggestion would do is restrict team comps further and cause a great deal of frustration when a needed hero switch falls into the wrong catagory. The way it would help queue times is by making people quit the game entirely.

Mate, if 10 people queue for 2 slots they wait the same time as 2 queues of 5 people for 1 slot each.

Plus you’re adding complexity to the matchmaker which would make it even worse.

Hmmm… it seems like the best option then is to get rid of role queuing but still have a role lock.
Like if two people pick dps before you then that’s it you have to pick tank or support, but it would still have the option of switching between roles.
Let’s say a tank player is just not performing as well as they should be and is asking if anyone wants to change roles. That would encourage more team communication and still not be as restrictive as queues are.

want to reduce queue times? select all roles. if enough people do it, you will get to play dps more often

Team: We already have hitscan

Hitscans we have: Reaper, Tracer

Alternatively, you can suggest 1-3-2, but only Reinhardt will be available to be picked as tank. /s

No. That doubles the time, because instead of the matchmaker trying to find 2 DPS players, it is now trying to find 1 and 1 DPS players. This is twice the amount of inputs, and will segment the playerbase into further categories.
