Positive comp post

Pretty much 99% of the posts on here are moaning about the game, with good reason.

Hardly play comp anymore, but quick play has turned into pure aids. 6 losses, of which 4 of them we had 1-3 utter noobs on our team, who were utterly useless. Levels 1-15, just constantly feeding, etc

My duo partner gave up in disgust, but I threw the dice and played comp.

5 brilliant games, well matched with solid team mates.

Lost game 1 by 0.5 seconds. Doesn’t get much closer than that.

Game 2 nice win on Hanamura. Team grouped up and was solid. One enemy thought I was a smurf. Nope, 1250 tank here…

Lost on Ilios. Was close. My fault for playing Orisa one round. I need to stick with Dva, Zarya, Hog and other carry tanks.

Nice win on Havana. Really got into the groove with Zarya. Was max charge a few times. My team mates were very good.

Lost the 5th game, Forado. I should have contested their McCree more. so went 2-3.

Each loss I can generally point to errors that I made. No team mates were egregiously bad, which is nice.

The bronze games felt like gold did a couple of years ago. I think the few remaining players know their stuff.

Still afraid to play comp though as I know going to get throwing scumbags on my team eventually. There’s no enforcement vs throwers, so I know they’ll crop up some time soon.

Won a ton today on tank decided to play some support. Had a rein flaming me for heals when he kept leaving my LOS to go inside a building. Other than that instance, great day.

I played some pickup games yesterday and they were a lot of fun.

Man, this makes me want to play comp too, but I know that I’ll want to uninstall the game 5 minutes into it.

Ik you weren’t asking for friends or anything but I think if you 6 stacked it might release some of your comp fear! I would recommend my own but we’re not all in your range and like we soft throw every game accidentally =.=

NGL when I was in bronze, the quality of the match was almost as bad as quickplay. But now that I’m in silver, it’s waaay better than quickplay. I do still stumble across good matches that I can only get in quickplay. But overall, I consistently get higher quality games in competitive now.

Competitive Overwatch and Quick play have Separate MMRs.

If you grind quick play, you’ll eventually get games that mirror your comp MMR.

It’s nowt to do with MMR. I’ve played more quickplay than comp by a wide margin. Not much I can do, unless I’m a GM when I get 3 utter noobs on my team feeding all match.

Played a comp game with my duo partner. He’s not played comp for 2 years. Game thinks he’s silver standard. He isn’t…
Ended up in a silver game and was a lot sweatier than I expected.

Got to say that silver is like plat was a year or two ago. Enemy Dva got 80% kill participation and rolled us. My fault for playing Zarya when I coudn’t get charge. Had a Rein, but he just kept on charging in 1v6 and dying. Should have whipped out Dva myself. Hey ho, just bad luck. Yeatle lost a game in gold as his dps couldn’t perform.

Then a 3rd friend arrived and we played quickplay. Won 5 of 6 games. We were getting the good team mates this time.

Overwatch match making in quickplay is just pure and utter luck. Think I’ll stick to comp as solo queue, and pray quickplay isn’t utter balls.

I was more responding to Hienster.

But yes…. Being a Bronze/Silver/Gold player means you’re constantly going to have new/bad/inexperienced players in your games regularly.

Part of the reward for dedicating as much time to improving as possible results in greater match quality as your teammates end up being more enjoyable to play with (when they care).

It’s not. You just have to grind it like comp. It has an MMR just like comp does.

If you play mostly comp and then play a couple games of QP here and there, the game hasn’t really dialed in your MMR.

If you play QP and just go on auto pilot all the time, then yes, your QP MMR will reflect you playing like you don’t care.

TLDR: try-hard ALWAYS

I finally reached Plat yesterday  I am no longer Gold trash, but am now a proud Plat trash

There’s the rub. I do. But not everybody else does.

Eg, my gm friend treated qp as a bit of a laugh, so he’d just dive in 1v6 for the lolz, and he’d ask me why I’m try harding in qp.

People learn new heroes in qp (I’d certainly hope they’re not learning new heroes in comp…)

And of course if enemy team is try harding with Bastion, Orisa, Bap, Mercy bunker comp and your team are all trying new heroes then you have a bad time…

And I can’t comp duo with my buddy as he’s at least 500 sr over ranked. Unless we want to lose every game.

Hey ho, hopefully the ff14 queue issue sorted soon and we’ll get back to that, and I’ll solo comp.

Ow isn’t very casual friendly, alas.
