tldr: Another collab this time with car manufacturer Porsche, its a skin for D.va coming S10. Me comparing the Concept Art skin to the Early Concept Art skins and why using an EV car as a skin is a terrible idea compared to the alternatives
I’m just talking about the car choice they went with so nothing to see/read here unless you like cars.
The car of choice for this collab is a Macan EV, you may think so what, big deal it’s just a car. Yes, it’s just a car but when you look at the Early Concept Art compared to the Concept Art, you’ll understand why.
The early concept art depicts the mech on the left a mixture of the Porsche 911 & 356, 2 timeless classic porsches and the mech on the right, clearly inspired by the 1971 Le Mans Winner, Porsche 917 KH sporting the martin livery (iykyk).
Then incomes this, the skin is nice don’t get me wrong.
But when you think of Porsche especially the history, you don’t think of EV, You think of the 911 ( Old & New ) , 911 GT3/RS, 918 , Carrera GT, Le Man Winning cars like the 917 KH , Porsche 962C in the Rothmans Livery etc. The list goes on and on, hell even if they had to do an EV, the Porsche Taycan & the Porsche Mission R are better choices than the Macan EV.
That concludes, my rant or whatever. It is what it is, might be skipping this and just get the bebop skins unless they do a complete 180 and use the Early Concept Skins instead of the Concept Skin.
Same, I saw the concept skin and was like yeah, looks cool might get it then i saw the early concept skins and they chose the concept skin over these 2 clear choices. So many Iconic Porsche Designs and they chose to do a bloody EV , What were they smoking.
They cannot even please the one guy interested in Porsche with their poor decision making. That’s just sad.
And people ask why they keep doing anime collabs. Maybe it’s because when the character is not true to the source material, anime fans still freakout and commit to purchasing the skin. Perhaps that’s why.
Yeah this is my big complaint with the skin. So many cool historical cars to pick and they go with a compact crossover? Like it’s the most practical kind of car, I drive one myself, so it makes sense as ad, but the lamest option possible for this collab.
Iirc they’ve said there’s another skin with the collab so there’s still a chance for it to be a cool one.
