Population iq says 1 in 10 is too low to serve in the military

so 1 in 10 is too low of an iq to serve in the military that leaves 9 people who are smart enough.

granted that number 9, you have in the overwatch game 6 people per team. you need to lose 4 games in a row to become a silver to bronze in my experience, so i haven’t gotten back to silver from bronze so i guess u need to win 5 games in a row to become bronze again, so far i have only won 4 games in a row.

mostly i win 2 games in a row. nowhere near enough to win the required amount of games to become a silver or better.

why? its the iq or intelligence of the people who play overwatch, its too low to be a good enough player to rank up with.

i think the overwatch team is basing rank on the high iq of the population and my sr thats 588 from 1800 from playing on bad teams says otherwise that the iq is in fact really low for more than 1 in 10 people, way lower i don’t know the exact number but people are really low iq and not good enough.

my reason for posting this thread is i think the overwatch team needs to lower the requirement needed to rank up taking into consideration the low iq that is a large enough player percentage in their game that ranking up is nigh impossible for solo ques.

having a low or high IQ isn’t really a prereq of being good at this or any other game.

it says there is no good in a low iq person who is severely low iq, the military has no use for them.

Why would I watch a jordan peterson video about military efficacy in regards to being good at overwatch?
Someone with low IQ can still excel in a particular skill that would make them valuable in a team based game. You don’t have to be SMART to be a good shot or to memorize and apply a characters primary mechanic consistently.

Having a high IQ certainly helps as that can carry you better than mechanical skill will in this game, particularly. That being said, I am more concerned with the low IQ as it should absolutely be a prerequisite of playing the game. A lot of problems would be solved if that were somehow our reality.

in certain situations being able to out think your opponent would help, but just the ability to be efficient at what most of the characters do doesn’t require you to be smart.

People with an IQ of 70 aren’t ruining your Overwatch game. It’s people with an IQ of 100 that think they can 1v6 every other team because they’re playing Genji.

You can have a high IQ but still be a gold, or silver simply because you don’t learn the game enough or you have low sport type IQ. =^] if IQ = rank then I am GM already, shrug*.
Gold is the peak of the bell curve, it is standard for an sr system to have a normal distribution since everyone performance will influence each other to form it, IQ might have a correlation effect on performance but consider it can also be increased through time via experience and education (aging and studying process) whereas mechanical skill and reflex is decreased after your peak age (~25 maybe) I doubt that the correlation effect will be as significant in certain age range on the entire population of age ranges.
IQ is overrated btw, working hard is mostly what you need.

Meh, IQ has no real meaning. Its like all the rest of the junk pseudo science people came up with as attempts to codify and justify eugenics in the late 19th and early 20th century.

It had pretty much died out as anything other than an amusement until nationalists and supremacists brought it back to the fore via the internet.

You might as well go around measuring people’s head circumference, forehead slope, or eyebrow shape. Be sure and drill a hole in their head when they sneeze too, that way the evil spirits can escape.

Yeah, you can argue about the fact that they use a test that can be heavily influenced by so many factors as a scale to measure people ability to think is just not good. My brother is 30 IQ below me but he is considerably wiser in many tasks due to his outgoing nature and experience.

You’re missing a factor for overwatch: It is played by people of all ages, so any random two people will not be on equal grounds for IQ because one could be 10 years old and the other 30 year old professional gamer

The people that can’t handle military tasks due to extremely low intelligence are probably going to have issues using a computer in the first place. I doubt there are many of those people in Overwatch and you are definitely not losing that many games to them.

Even if IQ wasn’t mostly bunk I don’t think this would hold. You can compensate for lack of book smarts in other ways.

I don’t think this is an accurate or even fair assessment.

If you’ve ever rolled Torb on Attack…I guarantee there were people on your team internally questioning your IQ. Lol.

Pretty sure this is a troll post. IQ has little to do with Overwatch.

Case in point: My own IQ is 128. Slightly above average, and I’m Gold. Meanwhile, XQC … whom … Ok, I’m not calling the guy stupid, but come on. Chances are he’s not scoring that high on an IQ test. XD And he’s top 500.

If you actually did a study on this, though, the results would be in your favor since on a global scale, Koreans are better OW players, and they also tend to have higher IQs than Americans on average.
But the issue there is the gaming culture rather then intelligence levels.

Not to mention there are things that IQ does not account for. Muscle memory, general instincts, etc. … Some people who are actually really brilliant in some areas have terrible IQ scores. There are musical geniuses who score like 80.

Getting a bit ranty so I’ll stop. XP But yeah, that’s not the issue. Yes, a severely mentally challenged person would have a hard time on OW. But I bet if you could clone Einstein and toss him a PC, he’d be just as terrible. :stuck_out_tongue:
