I have been trying to submit an appeal but it really doesnt get anywhere. You submit the appeal - first response is always an automated response exactly 24hours later. “Reopen ticket if your issue persists” and no option to reopen. You submit the second appeal and you get lucky enough for an actual response, turns out its just a blanket “your punishment has been uphold” with literally 0 relation to your initial appeal. They say to reopen? Too bad, ticket is marked as resolved and not answered so you get zero option to respond or have any insight. Last option is to submit a general ticket to try get any actual conversation or human understanding, but there is no actual way to press the submit button and it actually submits. It just sits there doing nothing.
Customer service has actually became a joke and im unsure if its an issue with blizzard trying to minimise customer service team to maximise profits, or just straight toxicity towards anyone trying to appeal.
There is no customer support and bans aren’t even based on any actual evidence in game.. it’s all automated by number of reports. A four-five stack could get you multiple times in a row and just troll you with reports and you get suspended.
You should not open a normal ticket for a penalty appeal. Additionally, ban appeals only allow you to request another review of evidence against you by another person. They are not an opportunity to have a one-on-one discussion or receive the evidence against your account.
Many penalties are applied weeks to months after the infraction happened while Blizzard gathers evidence. The only automatic penalty is squelch, which prevents chat. Bans are not automated no matter how many people claim they are.
So bans are just purely for blizzard to know about, and the player themselves isnt allowed to be provided with any evidence of said wrongdoings? I know myself that I havent breached ToS or Code of Conduct, ive read through them both thoroughly.
The whole “appeal” and customer service itself is toxic and thats so ironic.
Blizzard sends an email to you with the general reason the account was banned.
You didn’t specify the reason, so I’ll just cover the two most common ones: If it’s a ban for hacks/cheats, the method isn’t disclosed because that info could help others avoid being caught in the future. If it’s a ban for social infractions, several social penalties were previously applied to the account, but the behavior continued beyond those.
According to the EULA, which you agreed to when making an account, Blizzard can suspend or terminate the game license if they find you violated their rules.
Outsider chirping in, I do feel as if Blizzard should give evidence towards your sanction. It is their role to prove that you have violated the EULA, and as of now they don’t do that at all.
As OP states, they don’t believe they are in violation and Blizzard have ignored them. That is kind of telling in how much blizzard cares for customer service.
Burden of proof lies upon the person/organisation making the claim. In this case it is blizzard claiming that you have violated their EULA/Code of Conduct/etc. They are the ones enacting “punishment”. It does lay upon their party to be able to provide the evidence that such violations have occured.
The only reasons games arent brought up on their bans without evidence is due to the effort vs gain of a legal battle. No one gains anything from a legal battle ‘to get your account unbanned’, it is far easier to make a new account, and any money you spend on the legal battle will far outweigh the value your account will hold.
It sounds like you’re commenting about the commonplace procedures in another region. I recommend reviewing the EULA for that region. I believe most (if not all) of the EULAs include similar language about terminating licenses. You’ll have to check.
Here in the U.S., where Blizzard is based, I believe they exercise their right to refuse service. Refusal can’t be based on discriminatory factors. Beyond that, our laws say that they don’t really need a reason.
You have zero freedom of speech in blizzard games now. Anything that someone can take offense by even if it wasn’t meant to be offensive is actionable by blizzard purely because someone reported it. I said I was going to “uninstall the game” once as a joke. The chat flagged that as offensive and reportable.. Other players laughed with me about it. But I imagine things like that get flagged and reported all the time for no good reason. Someone should start a class action against them honestly.
