Point control Timer

I have noticed the timer seems to vary widely in our games often feeling like the other team gets boosts.

So I just timed my friends game and at the start they got around 1 tick % per second. Then it increased to 1 tick per 2 seconds as timed by me. I physically watched the timer change.

I did not realize this was a mechanic? I was trying to read about it but find nothing. It seems odd that a game mode with a ticker would not have consistent timing. Is this a mechanic I just never noticed or is something going on with server tickrate because often I feel like from game to game my aim on the same hero can go from perfect to missing and my DVA ults almost stutter.

This definitely sounds like something connection related.

I know there are timer altering mechanics in overtime based on how many people are on the point from each team, but not anything about timers outside of that.

Server stability in OW2 thus far has been notoriously bad.

I will have a look at my connection as I go through a couple of switches but the point timer thing is really odd because it was server side. I could understand tweaks per map but catch up mechanics and the like do not belong on point control.

I certainly hope that isn’t what is going on, because that would be bs to play if that’s the case.
