Pocket heals are problematic

And have been since day 1.

I don’t know how it can be fixed but, I do know it’s firstly not fun to play with (sometimes my healer pockets a DPS and I, as a tank have no heals) and against ( Pocketed Ashe/Soldier with mercy damage boost and stuff? Easy kills left right and center…)

And, how is it any fun to the player doing the pocketing? You just sit there and heal bot/damage boost bot.

So basically, pocket healing is

1-Frustrating to play with/against

2-Not fun for both sides (if the whole game is dominated by a pocket duo, what do the others do? Close to nothing)

3-Too rewarding and takes little to no skill.

And if your Widow/Hanzo FINALLY manages to luckily kill that pesky Pocketed Ashe/soldier, guesss what? If they’re getting pocketed by Mercy, that’s an easy Rez behind the corner and there is nothing you can do about it.

I don’t know, maybe make it so the more you heal someone, the less healing they’ll get overtime from you? And then you gotta like not heal them for a certain amount of time so that your healing heals them up normally again?

Hopefully they look at it in future OW2 betas…

With how insane damage is in OW2 Mercy has to pocket a lot more, in OW1 hard pocketing was the wrong choice 99% of the time

This just hurts her ability to heal tanks when she needs to more than anything.

Shooting the Mercy should fix this issue

Yes. And mercy is the biggest offender because of the continuous stream of healing.
It doesn’t require aiming and never runs out.

that’s like the most easily circumvented thing when pocketing dps and will only kill your experience as a tank when all of a sudden all your heals are 10 hps because you take lot of damage and need a lot of healing

and as long as a character that can pocket has any sort of viability pocketing will be popular, and if they have no viability pocketing will 100% be their most valuable aspect at that point leading to them doing nothing but pocketing

any other form of pocket nerfing would require massive reworks that potentially destroy the identity of the character and alienate their fanbase

Not gonna lie I agree with most of this. Not that it makes things askew for heals, as there is another support, but that it reduces her agency to their pocketed players agency. I’m not sure why damage boost is needed, especially now that there is only one tank and fewer shields. I don’t mean to say that Mercy doesn’t require some amount of attention to detail and environmental awareness, as well as gauging hazards and having escape routes, and we know mercy’s utility is related to her teams… but rather that it seems unwarranted that someone tag along behind someone else and directly make their damage output stronger.

I get the trade off that is Mercy isn’t able to do much by herself, but it shouldn’t be like that, not just for a support but any character

So my gripe isn’t that she is invincible, or even res, but the nature of her character

It doesn’t really “fix the issue” since most pockets outside of Pharmercy are hiding behind walls.

I still don’t think it’s an issue because pocket pot Mercy is just worse than playing her properly in 1, and almost all supports in 2 need reworks before the next beta.

This works the same as if the tank gets all the resources from both supports, and dps are playing by themselves of that. It is okay when ana pockets the tank and mercy HAVE to pocket dps, or there would be no value of her Mercy pick at all.
The problem starts as if you have zen/brig/lucio in addition to that mercy, and the wouldn’t switch.

Like who lol

Maybe Mercy I guess and some of them need changes, but I don’t see a lot of reworks happening

Do you know that the pocket is actually the only effective style that Mercy left after the rework and all nerfs? Even Ash is stated as a “buff” for her when everyone and their mom said “Mercy is fine”. This is what DPS players wanted. This is what they have achieved.

You can solve the pocket problem very simply: make Mercy the main healer again, so that the pocket style becomes unusable, losing in most cases.

Here is a hint… You won’t like it.

A pocket is only as strong as their DPS.

99% of the time hitscan are the ones pocketed.

Remember when the big selling point from the devs was that now both supports only need to focus on only one tank instead of two? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Dude I MISS playing Mercy as a main support

Ana needs a rework that makes her less oppressive in pro play while less divable on the ladder, Baptiste I haven’t really formed an opinion on, Zen needs work similar to Ana since the kick likely won’t stay, Mercy needs work to better fit into OW2, and Brig needs an actual niche now that she lost her anti-dive identity.

Moira and Lucio could use QoL tweaks but they’re fine.
