Plot twist: Athena is a Talon insider

What if Athena was compromised by Sombra and secretly worked against Overwatch as a Talon agent?

God no, just no. So sick to death of the “insider is villain” trope… please no. It’s so 2015 now…

Sombra is not really working for Talon. I would say she just pretends loyality, while always works for her self and her own interests. Also, if this was true, there would not be cinematic about Reaper desperately trying to hack Athena and get all the info about Overwatch agents and failing.

But Sombra hinted in many instances that she knows secret things about Overwatch agents…

And we still don’t know many details about the downfall of Overwatch.

Wait until you see the main villain of Overwatch 2, Winston-Reloaded.

LOL now that would be sad.

I’m hoping for some cool plot twists.

She knows and that´s typical for her.

Its been my head cannon for 3 years that Sombra will end up as the main villain. She’ll turn out stronger than talon and will on her own take over the entire planet and everyone will have to team up to stop her.

 Idk about that but it’d be interesting to see.

I’m guessing there’s some sort of evil omnic Mastermind that we haven’t seen yet (or maybe we have) and they’ll end up as a playable hero sometime in the future

As long as they do something with Athena. I still stand by my opinion that “Echo” should’ve just been the advanced robot shell that Winston’s Athena AI would inhabit, but that Talon wants to corrupt or even steal for an AI of their own

Imagine the bad guys having the power to duplicate OW heroes, or if the echo body would become the final form of the null sector omnic dude. Or that Talon could mass-produce duplication bots just waiting to be programmed for evil and that’s like the Bastions of the second crisis

I’m not salty about the concept art where Echo was just Athena at all, it’s not like it was cool to see or anything

You hurt Hamster’s monkey, Hamster will come after you.
I heard that he killed using a pencil.

Hamster Wick 3: Parabellum

exactly why it makes perfect sense for blizzard to do it!

The downfall of Overwatch was the Rialto mission. After the world learned that Overwatch had a secret death squad, Overwatch was under investigation from the US. The last stand of Overwatch was the Swiss HQ explosion that was caused by Jack and Gabe and in which they both “died.” Afterwards, none of Overwatch’s Blackwatch secrets could be kept hidden and the world litigated against them and forced Overwatch to dissolve.

this ancient forum post has more info about it lol

I mean let’s be real. Blizzard games always have polish, but they haven’t told a good original story in over a decade.
