Pleeeaase don't go overboard with collabs!

I have quit Fortnite permanently cause of the game being 90% collabs and 10% original content. I do not want Overwatch to do the same thing.

To me, a collab should be a side-hustle and be bonus content to an otherwise original game and world being the core of content. The core of new content, the seasonal new characters and maps, battle pass, mythics and skin theme, important events should all be original content.

what you did with OPM, you made it 4 skins in a 4 week small event as addition to the challenges and item shop once this season. PERFECT, keep it that way, if there’s an IP I’m invested in that gets OW2 crossover I’ll be psyched and probably will invest in a skin or two of my fav characters. As long as it stays as a small once-per-season bonus content, I’m happy.

HOWEVER I’m hearing talk you guys planned maps from other IPs, again, if its an FFA map or a core event map released ALONGSIDE an original new hero or OW-universe map, cool. BUT if this takes over a season’s map, or you add like, Naruto as a new hero I’ll probably uninstall and never look back tbh. This is a dealbreaker.

I dread the moment I see a whole season based on Marvel, like please don’t! Or what Tekken 7 did and made Akuma from Street Fighter a canon character in the universe.

At the end of the day is Witch Kiriko or Amaterasu Kiriko as original as we think it is? As a friend of mine put it one time if you go far enough back everything created is just something stolen from someone else.

I think many artists that are successful from art to book writing have gone on to say they steal from others. It is not to be taken literally, but just an idea that every idea is influenced by others. They look at the works of others. Use it to inspire them.

A crossover is much the same thing. Blizzard took Doomfst and One-Punch Man and blended them together. Just as during the greek event they took Cereberus/Hades theme and blended it into Pharah.

Neither is to me as original as the other, but that’s just the way things be.

difference is, its designed in-house. Idea =/= crossover

I agree completely. Some collabs are fun, but it’s easy to go too far with them. I never liked Fortnite even before they went crazy with the collabs, but that definitely didn’t help my opinion of the game. It got to the point where it just felt like I was playing “Advertisement: The Game”. And if you think about it, advertising is really what it is in a lot of cases. Companies paid Epic to put their stuff in the game, not because they thought it would be fun, but because it drew significant attention to their products.

Nothing is completely original. But my generic cyberpunk jacket that I made with Marvelous Designer in a day is more original than an official Cyberpunk 2077 collab jacket.

Oh no, I agree with you.
The game these last few weeks feels a lot better than previous. I wouldnt say better than some parts of OW1, but thats just opinions.

I was more talking about everything apart from the gameplay itself.
Literally everything else is bad.
Monetizations, systems, matchmaking (at times), progression etc.

I will not stop hoping for uproars to cease until the monetizations are fair, game is rewarding and systems are properly working. And now we have these god-awful crossovers to top it off.

Ignore this guy, Blizzard. I am going to need collabs of all sorts if you want to defile wallet-kun. Give me a… Revy Junkerqueen and I will let you have my first born. And the second one if you want. Take them all.

future Trunks Genji when tho?

While I don’t wanna see Darth Vader shooting Kamehameha level of overboard, I also hope there won’t be situations like everyone running around with slutty bikini.

Its not crossover the only reason that destroy the lore after all.

Yeah I’m kinda scared that we’ll start seeing like Ronald McMoira and Coca Cola Hammond Polar Bear things tossed in too. I like that they have their own world of Blizzard, where they could (and do) have things that are canon, like WoW, Star Craft, Diablo skins etc.

Keep the skins in the Blizzard universe, there are sooooo many possibilities with Blizz games that there is really no need to branch out to other IPs.

I mean I’ll be totally honest, I will never spend a cent on any skin/cosmetic, ever, so it doesn’t really affect me, but it definitely makes the game feel cheap if we start seeing different IPs running around in the game.

i agree, collabs are fun but i’d like them to be done sparingly, once a year at most

we need a new hero with psychic powers so he can get a mob psycho skin

I wouldn’t worry too much as most companies won’t want anything to do with Blizzard’s toxic brand

I too quit Fortnite after it became a 95% collab fest cash grab instead of an actual video game.

I am very much against collabs happening in OW in any capacity, however, a way to convince someone like me that a collab on OW would be worth it is to simply limit how often or frequently they happen. My issue with Fortnite is that they have a new collab every other week which lessens the impact and fun of each one, to the point that it is totally overbloated now. If OW does collabs but it’s once every 3 seasons or so then I think I’ll be okay with it.

If they do these every season or 2 then I won’t be okay with it simply because the impact alone will be lessened across the board. And even then I still don’t think it should be happening. I am of the mindset that OW was strong enough to stand on its own without doing sell out cash grab tactics to these extremes.

Ill give it credit, OW1 def had several things that i prefer over OW2 (such as the on fire meter, the medals ((altho i like seeing stats)), and the EARNABLE lootboxes from the daily rewards) but in general OW2 is def more fun. One of the big reasons, its free, meaning more of my friends can just pick it up and try it. Yeah that means less skins, but now theyve made the OW1 skins pretty easy to earn, and just in general the skins dont matter. Theyre nice, but i care more about the gameplay. Also I like how we know when were getting updates now, along with a new hero or map every 2 months.
