You already know what they are doing. We knew a long time ago not to expect new heroes till OW2. I disagree with their decision to do it like that, but its expected now.
New supports needed reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
In a way, who cares. Overwatch’s ~30 is actually a pretty good number.
Most people will never play that many heroes. Look at me and Cnflagration for our QP times. Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th most played heroes for time equals about the time we put into our most played hero. This is the case for a lot of people.
Most people will ‘main’ a few heroes and almost pick nothing else. Even in the support roles with 7 heroes most only play like 3-4 of them and ditch the other 3. Same for Tank and same for DPS. There are like 17 dps, but most will never touch all of them. Most will only play maybe 10 tops.
More heroes just bloats the balance of the game. You just end up with more heroes who are never useful and every new heroes power creeps the last one put into the game disrupting balance of the previous ones. I don’t care the game, but the cycle is the same. Year 5 content release is way more OP than the original release.
I’m fine waiting for new OW2 heroes and I sort of hope we never add more than like 40heroes total.
Quantity is not quality.
You say that when the game isnt fun. Also, Tanks & Healers have little options.
Meanwhile in Paladins, all 3 roles have tons of chatacters to choose from. Players have variety. So matches dont boil down to the same picks(most of the time). And queuing for a match is quick for all 3 roles, instead of 2 being quick & one taking 10+ minutes.
Blizzard was slow with character releases before OW2 was a thing. Blizzard has no excuse. Hi-Rez are beasts at releasing characters, despite working on SMITE too, and the pandemic hasnt stop them.
So before OW2, Blizzard was doing jack s—. Despite having more cash & resources than Hi-Rez.
True, but let’s not pretend that ActiBlizz’s most recent lineup of new heroes designed are… decent, to say the least: Sigma, Wrecking Ball, Brigitte, just to name a few.
OW to me is pretty perfect right now. If we got literally no more content I’d still be content. My only complaint is I’d like to see like 2-3 more support/tank picks and after that I’d be fine. With 17 DPS options I only play a few anyway. I don’t need more or 20 just to find that +1 more I’d ever play. Even without more tank/support plays the base cast covers enough ground that I really don’t need to find another support or tank to play if I want to counter someone.
I feel like the game still needs similar heroes, so when one character is in a poor state, you have a second option to fall back; and it also lessens heroes that are “META defining”.
For instance, we’re missing a Support that can provide anti-heal as Ana, which is what makes her such a high pick. With two in the roster, they could lower Ana’s 100% anit-heal, and make her less of a defining pick for most.
Why one of these post again, I don’t care if they have 100 champions I will still play Overwatch over it and also more characters does not mean better game, it’s cool but doesn’t mean a game is better because they have more characters. Also it’s not like Overwatch stopped adding new characters.
The thing with that is those heroes dont have deep lore…and lets be really they are probably unbalanced
As much as it’d be nice to have more heroes, it’d kinda suck. The past few heroes released have had disgustingly bloated kits that, even when nerfed, still outshine a lot of the older cast
When was the last time we got lore that fleshed out a character, Symmetra? Most of them are still the stereotypes they were initially designed as on release.
Now I won’t say that they should have League of Legends type of lore, but the story for this game feels very squandered.
Uh, sigma?
and also echo and bap…maybe also moira
Uhhh neither do OW heroes really lol
if you dont look into it, sure
Handing all momentum to Paladins and killing their own game.
We know how he got his powers, but we don’t know who had him contained/detained, how Talon even found him, or what exactly is his condition. What we do know is that he used to work on the Lunar Colony with Harold Winston, his blackhole experiment went wrong, and now he’s an insane powerhouse being abused by Talon. That’s the gist of it.
A really conflicting character: her creator made her as a way to atone for making killer robots… by making another killer robot. Sure, they could say Overwatch weaponized her, but that’s not stated in her bio. She actually doesn’t even have much of a personality outside of McCree (assuming voiceline interactions are canon).
He’s pretty good, as he got a short story to flesh himself out, so that one’s fair.
Great character for connecting storylines, but not much character is given to the individual: a solo story about her thought process, or how she views the world, could help her; I do wonder why Overwatch even enlisted her/found her in the first place…?
Which will also lower future heroes kit diversity, as another bloated hero already covers what they could do.
Yes because Paladins doesn’t have a role queue system ![]()
