A long time ago Blizzard said they didn’t want role q, guilds or things of that nature. That was fine and I get their reasoning even if I don’t fully agree. It has however been an age since they properly commented on this yet the community still wants this, if anything people want it more.
Rather than the community getting more and more frustrated, filling the forums and brain cracking this issue it would be nice to get an actual update. I’m not asking for role q or whatever, I have my concerns with that kind of thing, I just would like to know what Blizzard are thinking, if they are at all considering it, what their concerns are and if their minds are open to the idea or if everyone is wasting their breath. The silence is deafening and is becoming a major problem just by itself.
Role select will probably never be put into the game.
A LFG type of deal would probably be better since it wouldn’t force a meta but the groups themselves could pick and chose what lineup they want to go with.
No idea why they would be against a guild system as it would help people make new friends, queue up with players and so on. I recall Jeff or someone actually talking about this (not dismissing the whole idea) , might even have been intrigued to implement it… but it was so long ago so I don’t know if I even remember it correctly.
what are you talking about Jeff already addressed this remember guys all we need to do is “Play nice, and play fair” and this is all go away !!! jk I could not keep a straight face typing that. This game needs more social tools if it wants the players to even emulate OWL otherwise its like you are showing the fantasy of what the game can be, and then when you log in its a absolute RNG mess. Because we have no way to build teams, and meet like minded players in game! The friend list is nice for the lucky few you meet here, and there but its not enough to build a team.
I agree change is needed, but that is about it. Everyone seems to want a different solution and each one has sub types within (e.g. hard vs soft role q) so there is no agreement on what needs changing, just that we need change. The problem I see is everyone is thinking up their ideal fix and getting carried away into unrealistic fantasy, so if Blizzard do ever do anything it will be underwhelming as people have gone crazy with this issue.
That’s why I feel a major update is needed so they can either shut this down saying nothing changes (not great but better than the speculation) or rein the discussion by telling us what they are worried about and might be looking into. That would be so much better than this madness and might restore some faith.
you can make that on your own… why you need blizzard to hold your hand…
“looking for group” section on the forums, go there and look for roles you want/need
I’m not asking for Blizzard to hold my hand, I’m asking why they haven’t said anything to the 1000’s who are. My main problem is the silence, not the system.
They were never against the idea of guilds and they did say they something along the lines of “We would be very excited to work on a system like this” a few times on the old forums. Not sure where the OP got his information on that bit.
As far as I remember, I think they mentioned something along the lines that they wonder why players don’t use the ‘stay as group’ button.
To be quite honest, I am surprised that they ever thought that an exhausted community who gets tilted at every little thing and over one tricks, will actually use such a button. It’s basically useless.
I just won a game after dealing with an x player who wouldn’t switch or the x player who wouldn’t stop tilting. Give me one reason why I would ever want to press that button and group up with them.
They have made a few minor comments that give some insight, but no clear message of the kind I would like, be that some heavy forum presence for a while or even a dev update video.
When they launched the lfg sections of these forums, a bunch of people on Twitter requested this stuff and they said they understand a forum subsection isn’t a perfect solution but this is what you get.
At this point in time, they still aren’t looking at adding these things.
Lol, i made a good number of friends before this game went to @#$%. It’s been pretty much the only reason i keep playing. Most of my new friends though are referals off old ones, the randos i meet are more and more awful. Being a decent person and trying to play this game now from scratch must be a nightmare.
Its not perfect at all. I will not add someone of one good game, we need to play a few together and the stay as a team function is insufficient. First you need to be matched well enough to want to stay as a team and they need to feel the same way. Then there’s the issue of kicking people who you don’t want and unless they are trolling I hate doing that or asking my team no to group with someone, it just feels so mean.
This is why I started this as I think its fair to say most players feel a change is needed even if we cannot agree on the change. Blizzard addressing this fact would go a long way to focusing the conversation towards solutions, not problems and ending the craze of speculation and moaning.
