Before it comes to balancing individual character’s damage and other aspects, please tone down the healing. I see the complaint is with tank raid bosses and honestly them alone aren’t that bad, the problem is when they can just go from 0-100 very quickly if not instant from 1 single support, and I feel like that encourages bad play from the tank and punishes the team facing said tank rather than punishing the tank that went in.
Healing is fine right now. The DPS passive really curved that. If you’ve played 6v6 you’ll see that tanks tend to explode there too because of the excessive damage from fighting two tanks (or three DPS).
I think triple support feels like a problem in 6v6 because they still are balanced like 5v5 supports in that they do near dps damage and can heal + fight winning utility. You don’t really lose out on much by putting a dps player on the 3rd support slot.
But i can’t really think of an elegant solution that’s also straightforward enough for a new player to understand. I never thought the open queue solution of lose ‘x’ when more than 2 of 1 role was good.
you could be right from a macro perspective, but…
we cant even get real data in 6v6 it’s laggy af.
servers cant keep up ft. crossplay. simple as.
everything feels clunked and the desync is insane.
a long time ago people much smarter than them proposed a semi-open queue or at least a flex-role. so you could have had hybrid utility heroes like df, mei, sym, sombra, etc. in the role slot. push/pop heroes into/out of that roster to tone the meta (e.g. a meta where zarya is flex or a meta where echo is, etc).
and the format would have been balanced with low queues and low constraints.
this is why we need a private server. to take control away from incompetents and bring it home for gamers.
“Rein should just die when he misses a charge”
I don’t think you’re thinking about everyone in this enough.
Not every healer is capable of this. Not every tank bounces back as well as others when caught out.
When taking balance into consideration, should we be encouraging them to switch or do we want them to feel like they don’t have to?
It literally is them, when the dps passive is nerfed to 10% against tanks so supports make tanks unkillable.
I love healing how it is!
Look at how useless Mercy, LW, and Moira are.
I smell Ana again for some reason who is the problem, because I rarely see Mercy, Weaver, Brig, Illari, Moira or other normal supports heal a tank from 1%-100% quite fast and rather always Ana+Nade or Baps burst and some other stuff.
