Please STOP adding new game modes

Honestly i can’t believe i’d just refuse new content in a game but PLEASE STOP ADDING NEW GAME MODES. %90 of the time these modes sucked the fun out of the game for me.

Only one i can SLIGHTLY tolerate is push because it’s just poor mans payload. Just stick to having king of the hill , payload and hybrid. I’m just tired of sighing internally whenever these come across.

  • Push is payload but worse. Even with all the updates they have added you’re still forced to choose someone mobile if you don’t want to play death stranding but without death or stranding.

  • Flashpoint sounded fun with KOTH but on only one map but it’s once again… Death Stranding without death or stranding.

The speed boost is not gonna matter because a random Sombra or a Tracer is just gonna spray the enemy team leaving the spawn doing 1 damage and disable their speed boost.

  • Clash is just 2CP on sniff sniff powder. Even worse IMO with how chaotic it feels. It’s like you’re on the last point of 2CP on EVERY POINT.

It’s just not fun. I miss OW1 where i didn’t had to pick certain characters for game modes so i can enjoy the game. Fair enough modes like KOTH and 2CP had SOME heroes that’d feel harder to play like trying long range characters on KOTH etc. but at least it wasn’t THIS bad.

I don’t care if you just completely scrap the maps or rework it to fit another game mode (like flashpoint being reworked to KOTH) i just don’t want to see any more game modes. Even Paladins got it right with having only 1 game mode for ranked mode while keeping other modes optional like multi-queue from CoD on casual.

I want so many modes that each map has its own mode so it feels like the PvE they didn’t give us.

We had a good thing. We had payload, we had 2CP, we had koth! They should’ve just made new maps for those modes, given those map types interesting new features like when they introduced jump pads, and done it like that. Every new mode is worse than the last.

Makes you wonder why other competitive games are doing fine with one main game mode for years or even decades. League of Legends or other MOBA games are thriving with one game mode and prioritize working on their balance and heroes instead.

Meanwhile with Overwtach, Blizzard prioritizes adding new garbage nobody wanted and as a result we STILL have problematic heroes like Widow and Sombra that players almost universally have no fun playing against. If they put half the effort they put into pointless trash into balancing and reworking heroes instead, this game would be in a much more enjoyable state.

Exactly. Only game that i didn’t like having 1 game mode was Siege. Because you could pick and choose which game modes you want to play on ranked on matchmaking settings before they scrapped it and made the only mode bomb and i didn’t like playing bomb. Like you could straight up disable the modes you didn’t want to play before.

%100 agree. All they do is add cosmetics (which has no value since you can’t earn them for free anymore unless you want to grind battlepasses your whole life) and useless gamemodes. I’d even be fine with them not releasing any content for a year if it meant they’d actually fix the balance and rework the problematic/cheese/crutch heroes in the game.

Sombra for an example. As a Sombra main who played ever since her first-ish iteration (timed invis and translocator , being able to earn ult charge through hacked healthpacks) why does she need the 2x virus damage on a hacked target? Why is hack just a poor mans damage boost? She lost all her identity now.

She is not hard to deal with on a team fight but i don’t think getting practically instakilled as a support leaving the spawn sounds fun. Why not just buff her hack a bit and remove the 2x virus damage since she can’t hack the same target again and again and the duration is longer than the effect of the hack.

There was a Gamemode in TF2 called Doomsday, which was actually extremely fun

it centred around each team trying to get a “Flag” and deliver it to a point, which required the person holding the flag on the point for a certain amount of time

if the person with the flag died, the enemy team couldn’t pick it up and the timer on delivery slowly degraded until it was picked up again

if it wasn’t picked up the flag would reset to the original pickup point

this mode made for some very fun interactions where you would have the runners going for and fighting over the flag, and the defenders trying to set up and fight over control of the delivery zone

it would work awesome for OW i think

Nearly 5,400 hours in this game and I’ve never felt like uninstalling more than I do right now. For the record, I loved Assault maps. The fact they ‘remixed’ a couple of those maps into this new mode feels like a slap in the face.

Clash is terrible… mind as well bring back 2CP if the devs want us to suffer.
