Hanzo’s arrow speed feels so bad, i can be point blank with some one and they can just side step it…was the old Hanzo really that bad? Because this feels worse and more spammy.
His arrow speed hasn’t been changed for years.
Also, there are some visual glitches and hit detection problems with his arrow currently, which are probably the actual reasons that make hanzo feel weird.
He means to revert the arrow draw back speed which should happen. Also revert s9 and bring back skill.
K, what nerfs are you willing to trade for it?
Hanzo player here, it does feel very different to play with; you practically have to relearn the entire hero. Trust me in the end, it pays off being able to consistently one tap.
I fail to see how he feels more spammy when they nerfed his draw speed by 20% and he requires a fully charged crit to kill, unless you’re talking about the buffs to Storm Arrow, which were made to keep his original lethality with them and his base weapon now that everyone has more hp.
As for his speed, I think you’re confused with his arrow size. His speed has been 110ms for years, but they reverted his size back to 0.1, back to pre-S9.
Now of course, there are people who will say he’s fine as is or it’s a skill issue, but I’ll repeat it anyway because it’s a matter of wanting to even the scales, which +5 damage doesn’t do. If they want to nerf him back to a worse state than how he was in S8 (whereas literally everyone else is better compared to then), then the least they could’ve done is:
- Buff his arrow speed or damage accordingly. Minimum 20% on either (draw speed counter buff since a slower draw time on a bow in games generally means stronger and/ or faster arrows), maximum 50% speed specifically (lost 50% of his arrow size since S9).
- Or just let him keep an arrow size between 0.125-0.15 to keep him in line with everyone else. Why should they keep their size increases to 0.05-0.35 when he doesn’t even get to keep his 0.2 or 0.175? His OHK? There are bullets and visually smaller/ shorter projectiles in the game with bigger hit boxes and the draw speed nerf also nerfed his mobility, making it easier to hit him twice over.
Buff him or nerf everyone else to accommodate him. It wouldn’t be the first time they’ve done the latter, or at least nerfed any number of such to accommodate a literal minority, which more often than not was Tracer. I mean:
- they nerfed his Storm Arrow back with his rework to accommodate Tracer so she isn’t OHK by it
- nerfed Ana’s grenade so she couldn’t 2 shot a sleeping Tracer
- nerfed Widow so she couldn’t OHK Tracer to the body
- Nerfed movement abilities when hit by heavy CC like the bear trap or Graviton Surge
- Nerfed Hanzo’s arrows to 120 ages ago so he couldn’t OHK 250 HP, of which there were only 2 on a roster of like 38 at the time
I could go on if I took time to look through the patch history.
Hanzo had a lot of complaints about him but he requires more skill than most projectile and even hit scan dps. He didn’t deserve the treatments to him when scatter arrow was removed and 1 thing they can fix or tune is storm arrow.
They need to revert the draw speed nerf. When they increased the health pools to 250 it was already basically a 20% nerf to Hanzo’s fire rate because then he would always need a full charge to kill a 250 health target (Thats if they didnt nerf his damage to 240 before this). The extra draw speed nerf they added on just made it worse. Hanzo now needs to charge his bow 40% longer to get a kill now compared to season 8.
Really when it comes to nerfing him at this point, I could only see a nerf to his Storm Arrow CD. Like I said, the damage REVERT (I don’t count reverts as buffs or nerfs) to 75 was made solely so he could maintain his S8 lethality. In that regard. A total +50 damage after almost everyone got 50 or more HP, the numbers evened out is all that did.
He still needed 1 regular and 2 Storm to the body
1 regular body and 1 Storm crit
2 Storm crits
4 Storm body
Or 1 Storm crit and 2 Storm body
Literally nothing changed but his consistency and the loss of his OHK with S9.
And losing the OHK at the time, like I warned beforehand, “take away his OHK, they’ll be buffing his spam, and no OHK means there’s no logical reason to not revert his arrows to 0.15 or larger”.
Now they’ve restored his OHK, but he proportionally does less damage than before (125/250 as opposed to 120/200) and fires slower on top of it with a fully reverted arrow size. Harder to hit and more punishing for missed shots.
If they do nerf any part of him, it would without a doubt be the CD to Storm, which after everything else they’ve done to him since S9 alone would make a character who’s already the sole exception to the “everyone is better in every way compared to their pre-S9 states” even worse than that. I don’t see any Storm Arrow nerfs unless they buff his sniping capability by a good amount. And frankly, going out by changes since S9 (he’s almost exclusively gotten nerfs since OW2 launch):
- -50% potential damage and area control on his ult
- -20% draw speed, and with it, moving slower 20% longer
- -50% arrow size compared to S9 start
People can agree to disagree, I understand how breakpoints work, but all that will never be worth a 4% damage revert. Now, if Hanzo were doing 150 or more per body shot or if he got a 20-50% arrow speed boost, then definitely. It’s not like players expect kills with his ult, and like I said, generally slower firing bows in games fire faster or more powerful arrows.
I don’t think he does. He mentions sidestepping and even calls him more spammy.
No one is doing any
This is not happening.
His arrow speed has never changed in ow2
Fine maybe its just me but i feel like his arrow speed is slower as well, it could just be the draw speed but it feels terrible to play with since without drawing fully most enemies even up close will just side step them.
Most of the time during team fights you cant even reliably duel since it requires you having to have a charged arrow to be lethal…often times what ends up happening is during a fight against a tracer or anyone really is it feels like im shooting limp arrows that do only small amounts of damage and i have to trade damage that usually leaves me one shot since i have to charge the arrow longer to even have a shot at landing one precision shot.
The best strategy i find now is to just shoot arrows their way that they can easily just side step until storm arrow is off cd and just spam that for a more reliable kdr, it feels like they took the fun of using a bow out of him and made him a sudo junkrat or venture
