seriously the fact that an assault ultimate can be denied just by jumping behind the payload? isn’t the point of some of these ults to break off enemies from the objective so they have to duck for cover. doesn’t it seem a little unfair the the payload is always there for the escorts (or defenders) to use to hide from an ability of any kind.
sorry i just lost a zarya hexakill because three of them went behind the payload.

I think the payload is a fair obstruction.
•It’s pretty small vertically, so tanks can’t easily hide behind it.
•Very few, if any, ultimates can be blocked by the payload if used on top of the payload
•Every objective has some sort of cover, including the payload (which is cover in itself)
So you want people pushing the payload to be entirely vulnerable?
Obstruction completely, just take it out of the game. I’m over hear trying to play team deathmatch and some loser in the corner is telling me that “Winners stay on the payload” like oh okay Terry Crews, if you’re so cool why don’t you hop on? I don’t play Mercy so I can “help the team”, I’m tryna get some heccing kill out here fam

The only ult that goes through the payload is lucio’s because too many soundwaves got blocked by it. But using the payload as cover is an integral strategy for the attacking team, they’re not gonna remove that mechanic.
The payload needs to offer enough advantages so that players pushing or denying the payload will not be put at a serious disadvantage for following the win condition. It would be easy to punish players for contesting the payload if it didn’t offer cover.
You are asking for the game to require less skill. You are basically pushing the game towards “Firing Squad Online”.
The maps are balanced around the payload being valid cover so… that’s not really happening any time soon.

Or maybe you just have to get smart with your ults.
Probably the best option, is to not try to change core mechanics that very few people dislike. Just accept it as growing pains, and use it to your own advantage.
