Role que forces 2 2 2 comp which limits creative comp play.
Also wait time for dps is pretty long and it does get in the way of really enjoying the game.
Another problem with role que is during game if a dps rage quits or has technical difficulty, we only have one dps and can’t change role to fill that gap.
I never got what made people think that Role Stacking has something to do with creativity.
I am finally able to play DPS without turning my team comp into a creative 4/1/1.
That is something which I really enjoy a lot.
And the queue times aren’t really an issue if you aren’t a streamer.
Just do something really creative in the meantime.
Draw a picture, write your diary or improve your guitar skills.
How high are the chances to win a 5 vs 6 anyways?
I had this happen once or maybe twice in nearly 2000 hours of Overwatch
omg i hate players that say “LACK OF CREATION” omg because you can’t be more creative with roles doesn’t mean you can’t be creative with heroes…CAN’T FIGURE IT OUT THEN LET ME HELP YOU THEN!!!
EXAMPLES:
Dive
double sniper
Double shield
beyblade
DeathBall
like ome maybe you guys dont have to skill to be creative with a 2-2-2 comp and dont know how to use hero’s to make good comps… in stead you crying about “OmG i WaNt To SwITcH”
If that’s all you absorbed - then you have reading comprehension issues.
It has nothing to do with role stacking but rather the option to pick which role you need on the fly.
I was literally in a match last night with a friend where our team wasn’t the best. I was a DPS, him a Support. There was like 2 minutes left so I decided to switch to tank to dive and he switched off support to go to his DPS main.
And we won. If we were playing normal quickplay or competitive, we wouldn’t have been able to do that and would have probably lost.
I’m sorry, but what?
How, in your mind, do you consider it good design that you should have to do something else when you’re in the mood to play a game. O.o
One is that you only had one Tank before - which might have been the reason your team wasn’t doing well in the first place - and you fixed that issue by picking a 2nd one.
The other is that you stacked 3 Tanks - which is literally what I was talking about: Role Stacking.
Either way:
Even with role lock you can still surprise your enemy with a sudden change of strategy. It might need a bit more team cooperation than before, but Overwatch is all about team play after all, so I don’t think that it is a bad thing to put a bit more focus on this aspect of the game.
Before 2/2/2 Role Q I considered myself to be a Flex player.
Though in reality it meant that I was playing Main Tank in the huge majority of my games and barely ever got to touch the DPS role.
This resulted in me being a lot better with Tank and Support roles and I ended up never playing DPS even if I COULD have done so without breaking the team comp, because I knew that I would be holding my team back if I did.
Now with Role Q I can play DPS without breaking the team comp and without being a burden for my team because of separate role SR.
You might disagree with me, but this is in fact what I consider to be good game design.
If the waiting time is bothering you there is still QPC where you can instalock DPS and switch roles to your hearts content.
GOATS? 5 DPS? 6 DPS? Are they creative? Maybe. Are they fun? Most of the time, no.
Well, Moira is DPS so… Why have 2 DPS when you can have 2 tanks, 1 DPS, and 2 healers, one of them healers being Moira, who takes over for the lost DPS. Problem solved. OR imagine if your main tank switches to DPS. You would be totally screwed, but have that second DPS slot filled. Imagine playing a Rein-Zarya comp, then a DPS has some technical difficulties and leaves because their internet went down, then the Rein switches to DPS. No barrier = No win (70%+ of the time). Or the main healer. Again, pretty much screwed.
People keep complaining. If there were 6 DPS comps a lot before, no wonder the queue times for DPS are so high!
Yet how many people complain about either off meta or underused characters being played? You could have one character not being touched in years and suddenly they get to play in a meta and people scream nerf.
