Please let us turn off the Comp nametag border (NVM you can)

I’ll start by saying I like a casual low-stakes game environment, so I don’t really play comp, and (due to general toxicity) I only recently re-enabled in-game text to read/hear callouts.

I generally stick to QP but this past weekend I did the 10-15 games needed to get that free mutant green gun and the electric nametag. No big deal I figured, I like collecting stuff.

The issue is that I’m one of, maybe, 1-2 people in my QP bracket with ANY border (let alone the electric border.)

So smack-talking rage-baiting QP randos now have “tryhard” ammo to target me and anyone else with. Lots of “go back to comp” energy. I’m likely going to have to disable text again if I can’t turn it off.

i played the weekend event till my head started hurting just so I can have the name plate. it takes a miserable 10+ hours of non stop reque.

You are not going to come here and tell me that i should not have my name plate on full display when you had the chance to work for it.

I just want the option to turn it off, for me, not you.

The fact that they absolutely did hold you hostage for 10+ hours with a revolting psychological fomo game mechanic is another conversation worth having.

Also I’m proud of you.

The funniest thing is you call it a revolting psychological fomo game mechanic, so you played for so many hours because you HAD to have the name thing, and now you want it off. Like, wtf did I actually just read, lol.

Explain to me on the incentive for blizzard to put an event out and players can show their achievement while you can simply on a whim can turn it off?

this was introduced to get more players who play comp try comp since they nerfed tanks. they wanted more data from you guys.

Its very easy to see the steps blizzard takes.

Yes if you have this attitude you wont ever see 6v6 - the game is testing and gathering data.

They nerfed the tanks and tank que - and they released a game mode which was solely focused on role que.

does not need a rocket scientist to solve this puzzle what they are trying to do.

Let players who like it keep but, but let players who dislike it an option to disable it.

It’s that simple.

I don’t play Comp this Season, but I think if I had I would have refrained from getting the nametag because personally, it’s an eyesore.

Do you mean new competitive badges? You can disable in options. Don’t make sense disable this but you can

Enable streamer mode and there is an option to hide the drive feature from others & yourself.

this i dont mind - this way you have a weird name that i could care less about.

But if I have my name plate as Sigmamale - I would want my achievements to be shown.

I dont even care about streamer 12 letters name - lucioohoh etc etc.

Name change feature and everything else can be changed to be off besides hiding drive

This guy is right, it was in there. I didn’t look hard enough.

Options > Social > Streamer Mode > Advanced > Hide Drive Signatures From Others

Argument over. Everyone can now be happy, no one has to be weird anymore.
