its not allowing me to get into any games I can queue but then once I get into the game it says applying update then takes me out and to the home screen and says error

nope, doesnt work. i have the same problem except it changes between applying update and network error even though i have ethernet cable and my wifi is 10/10

Hey, SilentGhost! The “Applying update” error sounds like its one of the HF-# errors. These steps should help with the HF errors:

  1. Press Win+R
  2. Type %localappdata%
  3. Open Blizzard Entertainment folder
  4. Find Overwatch folder and delete it.
  5. Scan and Repair

If it continues, does the network error have an error code? The security software callout is a good thing to check on. Temporarily disabling or uninstalling it should help to see if its blocking the update or game.

Thanks, SilentGhost! The HF-501 is a new one. Any luck with clearing the files or checking for any security or firewall applications? If not, could you run a WinMTR test for 5 to 10 minutes to our us.patch.battle.net servers?

Heya Odyssey,

Try switching the Blizzard app and Overwatch game to Europe or Asia temporarily as a test to see if the same behavior happens. This will cause the game to authenticate and patch through a different region which I have seen help with patching issues in the past.

I have also seen strange permissions issues pop up from time to time on specific windows user accounts. I might also recommend testing a new admin account.

MTR looks pretty normal SilentGhost, no packet loss. Be sure to try the stuff I listed for Odessy as it may help you as well.
