Please help me understand SR (not rant)

Hey people I wish to know more about sr gains and losses. These are my questions, please when you reply to them refer to the number of the questions?

  1. When solo queing and team sr is same as enemy sr. What is the avg sr gain or loss. Is it 25? 23?
  2. Lets say i am 1900 sr and playing with friend who is 2200. When we win do i get more sr than my friend? When we lose do i lose less sr than my friend?
  3. What exactly measures sr gain? Is it how many medals you have? How much you were on fire?
  4. Lets say I get throwers or leavers in my game. How can i minimize my sr loss? Do I try to play as defensively as possible meaning minimize my deaths? Do I try to do as much damage as I can?
Thanks to everyone. I am level 200+ and I still cant figure out the pattern to sr. It’s not totally random is it? There must be a way to beat the sr system to get a net gain even when your winrate is 50%. I have 52.8% winrate and I net gained 1200+ sr this season.

In my expirience I average a 25 sr gain/loss

In your tier, performance can effect your gain and lost. Additionally, your MMR could be higher than your friend’s MMR, (MMR is a hidden skill rating metric) which could create some situations where your friend loses or gains more.

Win/Loss is the greatest effect
Medals have no effect
Time on fire is a good indicator of performance which DOES have an effect
The SR difference between the two teams will effect sr
The expected outsome of the match will effect sr
(those are the ones that come to mind

Pad your stats as much as possible

About that, yes. We don’t know exactly.

People say this yes. People also say that your friend will be penalized for grouping with you. But I don’t have solid confirmation one way or the other. People say lots of things.

I’ve written an explainer at https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/overwatch/t/how-competitive-skill-rating-works-season-9/14009

You’re asking a lot of questions with no clear answers. But generally I just keep playing to win and it turns out okayish. Work for kills, avoid deaths, etc.

By far, the most important thing is keeping your win rate up. Performance modifiers are on the small side, in all but the most unusual circumstances.
