Please explain yourself Genji haters

I have no idea why people keep insisting Genji takes no skill to play. I have not seen anyone with a new account play Genji (unless they are trolling or practicing)? People with low level (which means they are new to the game, unless they’re smurfs) will choose either Reaper, Soldier 76, Bastion, Moira and Mercy as a starter to test the waters of Overwatch, right? Even the tutorial insists you try Soldier 76 as your starting hero right?

His kit is sure is overloaded but is hella complicated. I don’t always see any casual players play Genji at Necros, Haksal, Architect and Libero level? Genji’s playstyle has a high ceiling, giving window to do multiple, out of your mind combo like ghost dash, slice and dash etc.

In conclusion: Genji doesn’t give much value when played in an average level but when played with skill he will start to be felt abuse-able and gives value.

I love going against genji. I play a lot of moira / winston and doomfist.

It pleases me to watch the weabo flail about with deflect as I suck the life out of them.

My last spark of joy in that game

The same can be said for absolutely any existing hero.
You are not special.

Lol no. Genji isn’t easy. Like Doom, Hammond, etc. he has a higher skill floor than you average call of duty hero, Soldier69, McCree, etc.

But once you get over that, he’s not hard. His bread and butter is dash and spread shuri, both extremely easy to hit with. He has small hitbox, he’s fast, he has an awesome survival cd, he can climb… Basically, he’s a really hard to kill reaper. Not as devastating, but more slippery.

Genji has higher skill floor and skill ceiling than most heroes, but only average skill requirement to do good once you learn him.

I don’t think Genji is low skill but not as high skill as eveyone loves to preach about. If he screws up he has a lot of options to deal with the situation. Swiftstrike, wallclimb, and double jump for horizontal and vertical mobility and deflect if he somehow messes that up too. Personally I’ve gone from hating him to loving the fact he’s running away. That means I can hunt him down as Mercy :smiling_imp:

Yeah, you’ll see no other hero mention their high skill as much on the forums as Genji mains. And if you ask them why, you get some vague mumbling about cd management. You’d think widows would be the ones mentioning their skill all the time. Maybe it’s insecurity or the whole ninja thing.

I disagree with the “takes no skill” arguments. (In fact, I pretty much laugh every time this forum starts an argument about what’s sKiLl and what’s nO SkiLL. It has no meaning here.)
That being said, I do dislike Genji for he can be annoying thanks to how loaded his kit is. Not saying he’s OP or anything. Just annoying to play around. Also, I have some sort of personal vendetta because I played a ton of solo-support before characters like Brigitte and Moira existed. Back then, a good Genj basically had a free reign to hound my ***.

And fyi, me finding him annoying does not mean i want him nerfed or anything. Being “unfun/annoying to play against” is a poor excuse for nerfs because one can find every single hero annoying depending of matchups.

I’d love to see you playing him then. Make sure you record how good you’ll perform.

Don’t worry, it’s not bias. Genji literally held the overbuff best offensive hero slot across ALL RANKS for years, all the way until recently. He was OP in the hands of the worst and the best players.

On the forum highskill heroes = not highskill and lowskill = higher than they are, from what I’ve observed.

Genji has a high ceiling even if they pretend he doesn’t.

Yeah man, it’s true because you’d like it to be! Sure showed them, high five!

I don’t play genji. He does have a high ceiling though?

When I first started playing overwatch, the first hero I picked was tracer, who’s arguably more difficult than genji is.

Tracer, still being my main, and genji my second most played, I don’t understand why people call him a low skill hero.

Even after 150 hours on him, I’m still learning new tricks, since many of his intricacies take a lot of time and practice to master.

With the way genji is right now, nobody should be calling him low skill. He’s so hard to play well with all the CC, sustain and healing in the game, that you might as well not even play him at all.

People really need to understand skill ceiling, skill floor and skill to do good are all very different things.

Or you know have fun arguing in circles when nobody knows what anyone really means.

This is exactly what I’m trying to say. The community is just tired of being outplayed by a skillful Genji who gets 5-6k with his nanoblade.

The reason people hate on him is because he is not that good dude… lol this shouldn’t be a surprise to you… he has high mobility but is a tissue paper air plane… he does little to no damage, and is super squishy.

So ya when people see a genji and go " Ah shoot… here we go again…" it’s because MOST people THINK they are a good genji but really they are just a sweaty weeaboo that is feeding the enemy ult charge to live out their fantasy of being a power ranger… so in short yes this is why people hate seeing genjis lol

I don’t hate Genji, I also don’t think he needs a buff or nerf though. Not sure where you are getting Genji haters from.

Yeah now that he’s not OP anymore I haven’t seen Genji threads in ages.

Are you kidding? I’m a frequent forum visitor and I always see 2-3 Genji loathing posts daily.
