Please explain shaky aim

what on earth causes people to have super shaky aim that pin points peoples heads? its like theyre playing on insanely high sensitivity and are constantly jostling the mouse left and right millimeters, i just cannot fathom how people play like that. is this aimbot?

Probably people with really high sensitivity mice, like you mentioned. I cant play like that, it would be nauseating.

There are different mouse sensitivity settings, and they’re best suited for different games.
For Overwatch, a low sensitivity 35-40cm/360° is more suitable, as I wouldn’t say there are many moments in the game where you need to turn 180 quickly. But characters with high mobility require a higher sensitivity, like Genji, Tracer and Lucio.

If we talk about the minimum normal sensitivity values, then this is 16 cm/360°
This is the minimum you can play with, but it’s not suitable for games that require high accuracy, as low sensitivity has a physical advantage. At high sensitivity, moving a crosshair even a centimeter is much more difficult than at low sensitivity.
My friend was playing on 6cm/360 until I told him to set the sensitivity to normal values.

Now let’s get back to the shaking aim.
I can’t say for sure how many people with shaky aim are cheaters, but I think the percentage is quite high. Because, as I described above, it’s physically harder to be accurate at high sensitivity, but some people seem to manage it.

Its of course subjective what someone considers shaky aim but if you just think anyone with a high sens is shaky aim, then, well, that is just an aim style some players have.

I dont think shaky aim is generally thought the best method but if it works for someone it works.

There are then people who “shake the mouse” every now and then between shots etc. to kind of reset their focus, and they just do this habitually some more often than others. I do too occasionally. Its not to help with aiming per se but just to re-focus on everything fast.

Also replay viewer can make some people look to have more shaky aim than they actually have, so its not always 100% reliable. For example people with packet loss in their connection can look quite weird in replays.

It’s because they are.

Some people don’t take the time or haven’t taken the time to learn how aiming works. I only recently decided to sit down and learn how to consciously aim, release tension in my arm, and lower my sensitivity to use my full arm instead of my wrist.

I still, on occasion, have jitters in my wrist from years of muscle memory playing incorrectly that happen when I get overwhelmed. I sincerely doubt it’s aimbot unless you’re in like top500.

im one of these shakybois and that’s because i drink a lot of coffee

It’s always mixed with some smoothing for replays, which can make it look weirder than it was. Sometimes rapid movement can happen because of packet loss during the game.

BUT there definitely are aimbots that fake natural aim with additional shaking. Some use the rendered image of the game for aiming, which causes shaky results.

^this, my aim looks extremely stilted and jerky in replays/POTGs for some reason, when from my side, my mouse movements are much smoother. I play on a fairly low sens too (4000edpi)

Well there are exceptions but generally yes, high sens.

Now if when they are playing S76 or tracer, their tracking becomes smooth as warm butter when pressing Mouse1, my guy, you just witnessed a triggerbot.

I don´t have that shaky aim, but for some reason, I fount out, that swinging my aim from head to side after every shoot works for me. I guess people watching my kill cam get confused…
