People need to stop getting insulted when someone requests/suggests a hero swap in comp. For example, if we need hitscan for phara I’m going to request it, this isn’t because I think you’re awful on your current hero or I want to insult your entire existence, its because it would be beneficial. I just had a comp game with 2 single target healers and we desperately needed team heals, I asked if someone could swap (didn’t single 1 of the healers out, just a general ask) and my god it was like I insulted their entire family.
Well put OP. People take being asked to switch as if you killed their dog.
Especially when the game is about switching at the right times in a match.
Not much you can do, I just had a reaper junkrat duo that got angry with me when i suggested swapping to counter pharmercy… apperently it was all my fault when i swapped from brig to bap to at least do something about it.
Makes sense. Except for the part where you might be suggesting a hero that the player can’t play well/at all. Would that really be better than them playing a hero they are comfortable with and can play?
I’m not insulted, I just ignore them.
Turn off voice chat turn off text chat
play whatever hero you feel like
If you want to rank up, don’t just stick on 1 hero the entire game but instead swap based on counter picks
90% of overwatch players don’t know anything about the game and someone telling you to switch is easily the same as them blaming you for loosing.
If you get tilted you WILL play worse.
Profiles aren’t always public, so its hard for us to suggest what they should swap to.
Yeah, sometimes I let my tank or dps know they need to switch, sometimes I get really mad and say it rudely but I don’t want my teammate to be insulted
But what about the players that specialize in one character?
I usually switch if the situation calls for it. However, if I check the scoreboard and see that they’re slacking and trying to make shots I call them out on their bs
In my experience:
If the enemy team has Pharah and DPS on your team doesn’t switch to hitscan on their own, then it is pretty pointless to ask them to do it.
They already know it, but obviously don’t care.
I gave up on trying to fix people within the ~5 to 25 minutes I will play with them.
It more often makes your situation worse by upsetting people than it helps to make it better.
I was playing a game of Rein on kings row and was getting bullied by a pharah, and I really felt we needed a hitscan of somesort.
All I said to my team was “I’m being bullied by pharah, can someone please help?” Didn’t say it in an aggressive way, didn’t demand or even suggest a swap, just said their being a problem for me, and please help.
Doesn’t always work, but it’s better then me getting into yelling matches with my team.
They can see just as well as you what they are up against. If they thought switching would be a good idea and wanted to do it they would have done it without you “suggesting” it. If they don’t understand the need to switch, telling them to switch does sound like an insult coming from a random on their team. Especially since I assume you do this when losing and they are probably frustrated at losing as well.
In most of my matches the skill gap between teams is so massive switching likely would not change a thing, so I do not pester people to switch.
I’ll be honest. I play what I want to play, and I always encourage others to do the same.
