a heroes sexuality/gender shouldn’t matter in a game. just play a hero for what they do
also rip russia if they do decide to add something in game, everything mentioning tracer being a lesbian is done outside of the game so it doesnt get banned in russia lmao
TL;DR: its a video game, where the people in it are made out of pixels. play a hero for what they do in the game, not for who they are
Homie
There were two (2) LGBT positive threads this past day.
Why
Why
Do you have to contribute to the spam of 876498736943874 anti-LGBT threads that were made in retaliation. I wanted this one to end. Homie just ignore it and move on lmao
That there were two whole threads made by people who probably don’t know the story discussion board exists and that’s where there’s an entire megathread? It’s not the end of the world. Just like how it’s apparently not the end of the world that people can have “How are you today?” and “What non-OW games do you play?” topics when those are objectively less relevant to Overwatch
even if it doesn’t matter to you, it might matter to someone somewhere. Particularly in Overwatch where the characters are designed to represent everyone.
how is it that hard to understand. if you don’t want to use them then you don’t have to.
If a country won’t allow it then they don’t need to put those items in that country’s version; it would just display as Classic skins/poses or the Overwatch logo spray or whatever
I don’t feel some people make the point clear enough, so I’ll give it a crack.
People don’t want their game turned into a pandering tool.
When their entertainment is turned into a pandering tool to cash in on social justice brownie points, companies have a habit of going so overboard with it they begin neglecting their product in favor of more pandering.
See: Marvel comics. I’m bi and even I had to give them up because their comics are no longer about super heroes. It’s about diversity pandering. The plots revolve around “look at how diverse and inclusive we are!” and not about “hey there’s this bad villain wrecking the entire city, lets go stop them!”
You can have diversity but don’t over do it
I’m sick of my entertainment being turned into sloppily handled, over the top, over zealous, pandering platforms.
I’m tired of seeing my stories get token pandering characters who exist solely for the reason of diversity pandering who have no development beyond the point of “look, diversity!”.
I’m tired of seeing my comic book heroes being killed off and replaced with a female variant solely because they want to diversity pander.
I’m tired of seeing the new Star Wars films destroyed by bad writing because Kathleen Kennedy is hiring people based on their views of diversity pandering and not based on their skill as an actual producer/director.
I just want Overwatch to be about Overwatch, not about pushing agendas.
And before people cram words into my mouth: ITS OKAY TO HAVE DIVERSITY. IM FINE WITH THAT. But for the love of god not everything has to be jammed full of so much hamfisted diversity to the point of there being no game left because it was all replaced with diversity pandering.
I’m gay and I think there needs to be distinction between what is and isn’t alienating inside of the game.
A gay male character? No. And I’m still waiting since the writers said there was one.
An lgbt event? Alienating, since no other minority has an event. (CNY is not a minority event, since a huge amount of playerbase is in Asian countries)
Pride skins? Alienating. HOWEVER,
Rainbow skins aren’t alienating and I think would be cool to have. (Example: Greek iris for a mercy skin)
Let’s not pretend mainline Star Wars ever had good writing. TLJ is mediocre because it has the same bad writing every single Star Wars movie bar maybe Rogue One has.
Oh my goodness yes. Star Wars was always a juvenile power fantasy, and a mediocre one at best. The saving grace of the films is that they were few and far between. But that has changed. The real problem with The Last Jedi is that it has fallen victim to the over saturation that has occurred as a result of too much Star Wars. That has caused a lot of people to see how problematic the stories in these films are, even if they don’t realize it.
As i previously said… tolerance twards the lbgtq comunity is come leaps and bounds in the last 25 years…
now we have this younger generation whos trying to force acceptance down everyone elses thoats… which is counter prodictive and only creates reason for people to have hatred and animosity twards the lgbt community
Tolerance and acceptance are not he same thing… be glad you live an age where people arent going to condemn you if your a male wearing make up… or a woman who dresses like a lumberjack (yes im being stereotypical but only to make my point)
