Hi there just getting back into the game after a few years out. I placed far lower than where I was when I quit and am stuck in bronze as dps. Seems impossible to win with all the smurfs and throwers which are in every game. Last night one game had 3 trolls. Two on my team and one on the enemy’s. Really is a joke and makes me want to quit again

Just because someone is better than you is not a reason to call them smurfs. (using forum definition of anyone that is better than the OP of the thread)
If someone is throwing, report them as that is already against the rules, if they are winning then they will be gone before you know it and not be an issue at all.

Yep, game quality is garbage now. You have to just get used to it. Blizzard doesn’t really care anymore - just look even at quickplay; GMS and plats in the same game. It’s a joke lol

Take your loss like a big boy and move on.

Play more games. You get streaks like everyone else.
Ignore this. Game quality is, if anything, better than it has ever been. The problem is that most of the game-bandwagoneers have left and all that’s left now is the people who actually want to play Overwatch. On top of which many people have been playing for upwards of 4 years, so if you’ve just come back you have a lot of catching up to do.
Just keep playing.
The only way to climb is to get better. So just focus on improving your game.

Good–or even halfway decent–players don’t end up in bronze on accident.
And then by the next game it’ll be another smurf, and the game after that… another smurf. If they were rare, they wouldn’t be much of an issue, but they are incredibly common.

Bronze is a strange rank because it spans 3x the SR of all the other ranks. If OP placed into bronze after being higher, there’s no way he was any higher than silver since you just can’t lose that much SR over 5 losses.
So lets say he’s on the left tail of the curve after taking several years off of not just OW, but FPS games in general (hell…maybe he’s been playing nothing but console games for 3 years and he plays OW on PC so his M+KB skills themselves are rusty).
In bronze it’s possible to be in a game where you’re SR 499 playing with people 1000 SR above you and everyone is still in bronze.
You cannot do that in gold or plat. It’s roughly the same as matching someone in low gold with a player in low diamond who’s just suffered a few losses (since you don’t derank the moment you drop back into plat SR. You have to go down a bit first.)
Many times in bronze, smurfs aren’t. They’re just legit better than you because of how wacky the rank is.

By everywhere you mean 1 game in 100 ? or 1 game in a 1000 ? or so rare that they are a novelty when you see one ? if so then you are right.

I agree that smurfs are uncommon but they probably aren’t rarer than 1/50 games.
Because there is no set definition of smurf and threads like this are just players salty as they lost to better players. In bronze (as stated above) the skill level varies greatly and many times better players are just that, better players who are working on ranking up.
I can tell the difference between someone who belongs here or not. I’m bad admittedly. I guess people who don’t think it’s a problem don’t play in bronze. Level 25s dominating with widow hanzo or genji killing the whole team alone is a huge issue and is almost in every game. I guess blizzard don’t care cos they are buying new accounts even tho it will stop new players sticking with the game
If you deserve to be higher than bronze in terms of skill then you will get there eventually. You do have to grind it but it can be done, you just have to accept that you are not as good as you think you are, no one is, and you have to keep practicing to get better.

Have a friend that tried Overwatch first time ever, got to level 25 playing widow with 80+ % headshot percentage as all he does is play FPS games and always as a sniper. Just because someone is low level and good is not an indication of anything.

There is a lot of smurf in bronze because so many ppl using LFG to go down there. It’s upsetting 
oh… and other ways too. All of which are against the rules.
