Please do not test out hero bans and "swap tokens"

I tend to normally be on the side of trying new stuff, but I agree, hero bans in a game where people select and get good at a specific hero is just a bad idea across the board.

it will backfire like last time they experimented with hero bans it didnt go well and the swap token stuff is just stupid in my opinion like im only have some skill with certain heroes if they are banne di would jsut look like a thrower

Exactly. It’s literally impossible to have the same level of gameplay with every single hero from your role category, especially in the DPS role, with so many heroes with a diffrent type of gameplay.

Back when Role Queue didn’t exist, flex players, who were famous for being the most skillful players among us, only mastered 2 heroes per role and that was enough to make a big change during a match.

Now with Role queue keeping us from switching roles, it enforced onetricking (or two tricking) even more. Implementing hero bans again would only make things worse, at a time where Competitive is already in a bad place because of its new system since the F2P update.

dps wise i only really work with Tracer (mostly) or Mei (AKA ice witch or elsa) on dps role while tank im typically dva and when i was palying support i was workign with Kiriko and mercy but mostly working kiriko but ive given up on support role but im kinda petrified to even play

I still agree with your sentiment overall, hero bans are inherently bad in a game where you can swap. They need to drop it already.

The eventual replacement for OWL. Blizz reportedly licensing the pro league out next year to companies who run leagues for other games.

To my knowledge Dexerto is the site that first reported on it, and Dexerto’s track record on news is about as reliable as ActivePlayer is for player population counts.

Hero bans are a good idea IF done right.

Which means no weird crap like banning some select thing for everyone, just do the sensible thing and give each lobby a pregame vote phase where everyone can submit a vote on what to ban, then either ban the most popular or randomly select one vote from each team and ban those heroes for that match.

That way, even if your main is the most banned hero, you still get a shot at playing it fairly often rather than it’s just turned off for a week or whatever nonsense. It also keeps the bans relevant to the experience and skill levels of the players involved.

Sorry, but this argument doesn’t help your case much. If you’re playing a competitive mode in a game, cosmetics should be the last thing you use as an argument to being against hero bans. You’re there to win, improve, and ultimately rank up. Not put on a fashion show.

As frustrating as some heroes are to me, I would not go as far as introducing bans and anti swap things in the game. I feel like anyone should be able to play the hero they love the most and not be locked out of that

This can be great for competitive mode. I imagine that the rest of the no competitive modes could be played without restrictions.
