As someone who enjoys talent trees, could we get rid of the current roll passives and let players choose from 3 hero specific passives for each hero? If there are any cool passive you can think of feel free to add it as a reply to this post! Even if it is overpowered or makes no sense I just like the idea of adding more options on play-styles for each hero, like a little experimental fun added to the game.

Here is an example for hamster:

  1. Reactive Shields: Reduce the power of adaptive shields by 55%, can no longer cast adaptive shields, hitting enemies with piledriver or grappleclaw causes adaptive shields to automatically activate.

  2. Moonshot Augmentation: Primary fire ammo reduced, piledriver and grappleclaw damage increased slightly.

  3. Gravity Defying: Piledriver causes affected targets to stay in air and lose control of movement slightly longer. Overall Speed and knockback increased. Health reduced by 100.


Here are 3 for Sigma

  1. Eldritch Anomaly: Able to float around with jump and crouch. Health reduced by 50.

  2. Warped Gravity: Gain an aura which causes enemies to be slowed and take 10 damage per second while in the aura. If Sigma loses his shields the ability ends and he is stunned for a few seconds. The passive reactivates if Sigma’s shields are fully charged.

  3. Planetoid Accretion: Casting Accretion will absorb your health shields and add half to its total damage. Accretion under this effect will take twice as long to cast.

You could only choose 1 and you can only change it during the initial hero select screen before the game starts or on the main menu. Any suggestions for other selectable passives for heroes?

PVP only has a small hope of being balanced. And that hope becomes non existent with the threat of customisable passives or abilities.

This reminds of Talents from Paladins (which I’m personally a fan of that aspect.)
It would be interesting to see something similar in OW.

I never played paladins is it fun? I hope they add something similar like from heroes of the storm but more small scale. Too bad it will probably be a balancing nightmare.

honestly Overwatch PvP might need a talents/money/side objectives in-match system

every other games have these system, Val and CSGO have money and guns, League and Dota2 have gold and items, Paladins have talents.
basically an universal resource that every players need to learn how to manage and utilizes. it can work both as a tool to snowball and as a comeback mechanics. it will add so much depth into the game
