PLEASE bring back PAGES vs. this scroll thing

Or at the very least, give us the OPTION to have pages instead.
I don’t mind the never-ending scroll on the forum page, but I loathe it inside an actual thread. I like being able to reach the end of a PAGE, it makes tracking a post, and limiting how much crap is on ur screen, a lot easier.

I’m not saying remove it for everything, or give us the option immediately, just in the near future, please, bring backt he option for pages for those of us who prefer that?

TY

Yes please.

The forums would look MUCH better.

As a website optimization specialist.

Infinite scroll tends to encourage more user interaction where every page is a new opportunity for the user to decide to leave.

I won’t read everything with this infinite scroll thing.

Before, I not only went through all the pages, i kept notes of which page numbers to revisit certain post on to follow a reply chain or something.

This infinite scroll thing is a huge way to encourage me NOT to read everything. I literally feel like I’ll only respond to a post that’s right before mine. The scroll feels incredibly awkward and discourages me to want to stay and read…so i guess we’re all different. Hence the reason I think an OPTION for pages would be nice, vs. only have it one way or the other.

I think having the option to have pages back is a good thing. Endless scrolling on an active thread can end up being painful when you try to scroll to the bottom.

Agreed, this is a functional step backwards.
On large topics the amount of scrolling required to even get to the reply button is obnoxious, especially if you are replying to the initial post and don’t intend reading the whole thread.

Additionally you then have to obnoxiously scroll back to the header if you wish to access the links there, that are not reproduced at the bottom of the page.

I can only assume whoever designed this layout has never actually used a forum in their life, or has some nefarious motive in producing such an abomination of a forum “upgrade”. Perhaps Blizzard would prefer that any sensible, widely discussed topics about their products were on a more accessible platform like Reddit? Maybe they just find funding a forum server too onerous, and would rather we all just went somewhere else so they can save money and make more profit?

I mean, now you can jump to anywhere in a post, including exact post number.

Being more granular without interrupting UX is the dream.

It’s honestly very well thought out.

Yeah, not a huge fan of the side scroll thing. Just looks out of place

you can bookmark replies though so there is no need for the pages

I don’t mind the endless scrolling for the main page of each sub-forum, but I dislike it for the threads themselves too. I want pages back.

One thing that’s nice with pages is getting to reply quicker If I don’t need to read everything

Removing it, please no, I love this addition. Adding an alternate option to make it Infinite Scroll, 10, 20, 30, 50 replies per page, this is a good idea. Also, if you want to track specific posts you can not bookmark them. I love the bookmarking features they have implemented

Exactly. Options are always the best choice

I second this motion!

I did post about other Mobile issues here as well.

No links allowed so the post is: new-forum-mobile-user-experience-is-lacking/1191

I found m°Y°self reading more comments than on the old forum, where I usuall°Y° stopped reading as soon as I hit the end of a page. Alwa°Y°s felt like an abrupt interruption to me, so I like this change.

What I particularl°Y° like about the scroll bar is that °Y°ou can skip ahead to a specific comment, rather than scroll through an entire page to tr°Y° to find it. Just gotta remember what number the comment has.

You don’t have to scroll all the way to the bottom though.
Just click on the “X min ago”-text on bottom of the little slider to the right and you will arrive at the latest post.

EDIT: also by clicking on the “last reply” under the first post.

I also find using the Watch/Track thing on threads I care about to be much easier than manually tracking pages. When I get a notification and click it, it just takes me to where I need to start at.

I prefer the infinite scroll. They have a very nice graphic to show you how far through the post you are. I always hated being the 1st post on page 2.

Agreed, I haven’t even used the old forums in months and I’m already spending a lot of time here getting involved in discussion. I’m a big fan of these changes. Btw I must ask, what is wrong with your Y’s?
