This hero is obnoxious and anti-fun to play against and sometimes with. How is it ok that you literally can’t play half of the hero cast when he’s in the game. Especially as squishy it’s not fun or fair because you have to have your whole team to look at him to make a dent and even then, he just bails out with his hyper mobility to only to return in a blink and delete a squishy. Every single rank tier has him well over 50% win rate. How is that balanced when other tanks don’t even come close or are dumpsters?
This hero is relic from the past of a team that was incredibly disconnected in their hero design and their ability to see how certain design choices negatively affect the game. There’s a reason it was a 50/50 when he was still at the drawing board and some devs where against his design.
If ball is good then you really just have to ignore him as a team and focus his team. Just like how Zarya is played at times where she literally ignores the enemy tank to pressure the enemy backline, which typically ends up working. Same premise with playing against ball.
If you are struggling against him, switch. Really as simple as that, there are several heroes to help disrupt him or make it so you can completely ignore him being a nuisance to instead push into his team.
A bad ball or a highly attentive team are the only reasons I would even remotely bother to disrupt and focus a ball to kill him.
The barrier of entry to get base value on ball is the lowest it’s ever been in the game after the rework a while ago. He also gets micro buffed constantly on top of bans heavily favoring him when he does slip through the cracks.
Ignoring a ball so he’s uncontested is not gonna stop him from obliterating your team and this is assuming the enemy team aren’t playing heroes that have mobility or know when to give space. Your ability to disrupt ball is heavily reduced with bans, tank passives, and all the other solo tank power creep.
Honestly the issue with ball is DPS players. He has one actual counter, and it’s Sombra. Now think of all the times your team was harassed by a ball. Think about all of the times your dps has switched to counter him. There’s a big disparity, isn’t there?
I’ve made a post before about how DPS players often crying about being ineffective is a direct result of their refusal to switch off their main when the situation calls for. Wrecking balls are the most common scenarios where this happens. Roadhog hook will not effectively control ball at all, Brig shield bash is like a sneeze. Sombra is his only counter, and people won’t play her- OR they CANT play her because y’all are dead set on banning her and not ball.
It’s also incredibly easy to negate his mobility. You don’t even need CC, just cut him off before he gets the speed boost and you can kill his momentum with your body. Same can be done to keep him trapped in rooms because of how large he is now.
It would if people shot at the hook target. It would properly control anything in the game. But no! It’s really more important to stand there and shoot at nothing! I get it, I do. Sometimes I enjoy throwing games too.
That’s a very situational thing and on him to misplay the engage/disengage. This is also assuming he is mindlessly letting go of grapple early instead of holding onto it for longer.
If you want an actual tip melee actually moves players slightly which can stop him from getting fireball sometimes.
Play terrible heroes this patch to pray he’s goofy enough to run it down into 5 people instead of play smarter while the other 4 players do whatever they want. I think the parry perk works weird with some cc but that’s also a thing to just deny heavy cc comps.
Not really, unless he’s positioning poorly. If he’s going for a kill in the backline like he usually does, he’s going to have to roll his way out, in which case, you just stand in his path to slow him down (even when he’s in the open).
