PLEASE add an option to cancel reload with ADS for Freja

I know the devs mentioned they didn’t make this a feature despite people asking for it because they found it annoying that your reload gets cancelled by ADS, but I find it far more annoying that my primary source of damage gets interrupted by the secondary source. Here are a few reasons why:

  1. The devs argue that this is to align her gameplay with other snipers, but Sojourn’s railgun, for example, lets you interrupt reload, so the statement is inaccurate. Ashe also lets you interrupt your reload at any time–she does not have to load all 12 shots before she can ADS.
  2. Not to mention that Freja has a perk that passively reloads a few primary shots for each ADS shot you land, but this gets impeded by the forced reload animation.
  3. Another reason is you sometimes rely on the ADS to hover midair to avoid falling into a hazard, but since you’re forced to reload you fall right into it. You can also use the hang time to rotate between high grounds or to dodge shots, when reloading is unnecessary. You’re not just locking Freja out of her burst damage but also a key movement mechanic by forcing the reload.

I think the best option is to make this a setting so you can choose whether you want this change or not, just like we got the option to bind her dashes to a double jump.

While we are on the subject of Freja, can we please reduce the cast time of her ultimate? It’s already a pretty weak ult, why does it need a long cast time?

I think the longer cast time is needed to compensate for the infinite range and huge hitbox it has in order to give people a fair chance to react. It feels like an OW 1 ult where it charges fast, can’t win a team fight on its own, and you can actually get punished for misusing it and die during the cast. I miss when ults felt like abilities that had meaningful downsides. Maybe it’s wishful thinking, but I think it would be better to nerf other ults like Overclock instead of powercreeping the rest.

She definitely suffers more from not being able to interrupt her reload than other heroes; she essentially has two independent ammo sources, weaving her expenditures is more like playing Kiriko: sometimes you very much want to interrupt a reload to use the other ammo type.

Either this was a clunky balance choice they aren’t being entirely direct in admitting to or else it’s just a bad oversight or misjudgment.

That’s a good point, I remember they even added an optional setting to Bap where you can stop the reload if one of your ammo pools depletes so you can continue to shoot the other. It’s a godsend for when you need to keep healing even after you shoot all the bullets.
