Playing stadium going up for All-Star. How do I get stuck with a novice support in my team?
It’s matched on MMR.
Stadium is new, the “ranks” don’t all line up with MMR yet.
This is what happens when you have resets. Things get messy.

Novice is a long way from elite. Only thing causing this is because there are not enough players and they hit the time limit meaning the game stopped caring about the rank restrictions and filled the match to ensure they get a match…
No idea. Don’t and won’t play stadium. Does nothing for me.
But, the matching is the same. So based off your MMR. If I jumped into stadium now, I’d be matched based off my qp or ranked MMR as I’ve never played it.
It would probably mean, when I gain a ranked badge is look out of place despite matching with peers.

As everyone else mentioned, it’s based on hidden MMR, not rank. So the person could be just starting to play Stadium and making their way up to where they should be. Since everyone starts from the bottom, you’re going to have players just starting to play Stadium that are normally anywhere from Plat to T500 in a Stadium rank that doesn’t match their comp rank because you don’t go through any placement matches (especially support, where they’re only completing 1 game to every 2-4 for Tank/DPS thanks to support queue times) .
When I first started queuing Stadium, I was regularly going up against Masters, GM & T500 (regular comp ranked) players and we were all still in Rookie to Contender on the first couple days.
