After playing OW on PS4 since launch I have finally made the jump to PC. Not looking to be a pro was just hoping the quality of games was a bit more consistent in solo/q.
I was not gonna stop playing on PS4 (most of my friends on there) so I thought may as well just use controller and not fry my brain jumping between diff mechanics. On PS4 I rank in in at like 2450 and get to plat usually… on PC I ranked in for the first time last season at 1950. Was a bit surprised that I wasn’t in bronze. After playing a bit on PC now (with controller) I am wondering why Blizz cant just combine console and PC player pools.
I really enjoy the stiffer competition on PC with the more accurate head shots. Is there a technical reason they can never be combined??
I also know prom playing ALOT on PS4 the use of keyboard and mouse adapters is very prevalent now, so the reason to separate them based on mechanical advantages of controller vs keyboard/mouse seems a little redundant.
Love to hear peoples thoughts on why Blizz cant combine the 2 environments.
And yes I know I should just learn K/M, I get it from everyone but I enjoy using controller. FYI- I main DVA/Sombra
What do you mean by combine the two environments? If you’re hoping for cross-platform play it’s never coming. The day Sony and Microsoft decide to cooperate by enabling cross-platform play between their two, competing consoles is the day the other eight circles of hell freeze over.

One of the reason that Blizzard has a hard time doing cross platform is that Sony & Microsoft have different rules and requirements when it comes to transmitting data thru them.
It’s one reason why PTR doesn’t exist for Consoles.
Also, Console players restricted to using only controllers have aim assist, but it will never be able to compete with someone who is a dedicated keyboard&mouse user. That’s just how much better someone can be when using keyboard&mouse. Flick shots are thing and the ones who are good at it can kill faster than someone using a controller.

Isn’t Streetfighter 5 is cross platform?.. but may be more complicated with a game like OW.
I hear you on the accuracy thing but I play fairly regularly on PC with controller and not that big of a deal tbh. OW is more then just raw mechanics though. Positioning/ awareness/ decision making can ensure you are not giving those shots up in the first place. Plus playing DVA means the aim mechanics are not super important.
End of the day I am not looking to get to GM or anything just have fun and actually have competitive games, not one sided stomps like I have been getting in PS4.
Appreciate the response man.

Sure, it’s just a game and we all want to have fun.
But be warned, people who play on PC will look at you using a controller as limiting yourself, and the team’s chances of winning. Unless you have legit reason like you’re actually physically limited in movement (I’ve seen videos of gamers who suffer physical problems that can dominate at games with controllers, because their bodies won’t allow them to use mouse and keyboard) I’d suggest to not be too open about.
You’re right that positioning, awareness, etc. is important too. But if you play an aim-heavy dependent hero like McCree, Widowmaker, Ana, etc. you’re gonna get a lot of hate on PC for using a controller for them.

I would never use those characters for that exact reason. It is competitive and I play to win hey. So I use less aim dependent characters. I am not super vocal about it tbh but I was under the impression that its not a report-able offence to use controller on PC… am I wrong there??
Using a controller isn’t a reportable offense…
But they said the same thing about “one-tricks”
They circumvent that and say “Poor teamwork” and would cite something like “Using Controller on PC makes them less responsive, can’t turn around fast enough to confront enemy shooting them from behind, causing them to be eliminated”
But I wouldn’t worry about it too much.
Glad to see someone else out there using a PS4 controller on PC! I ONLY use controllers for PC games as I’m an ex-console player that got tired of buying a new system every 3 - 5 years.
Anyway, I actually play aim intensive characters like Tracer and Soldier and don’t have that many issues with them. Even gotten a few head-shots with Widow. I pref the PC tbh because of the lack of a aim-assist. I feel like I actually earned my kills.
However, I feel if you run into any real issues with the controller its because Blizzard is terrible at programming them. For whatever reason Overwatch feels unnatural when spinning around and what-not, almost as if their linear ramp (best kind of thumb-stick scheme imo) is screwy.
Messed around with M/kb for a moment and it feels smooth and natural, where controller is all over the place. Jumping to other games like Halo 5: Forge (which does have aim assist) or Elder Scrolls Online (which does not have aim assist) the controller feels more natural and aiming is MUCH easier.

I think this could be considered throwing
