Playing into your hard counters is not "trying your best"

Bastion refusing to switch into D.Va clains he’s “trying his best”. This is after I switched to Winston and made their Widow and Doomfist switch. I try to counter her with Zarya, but Bastion keeps feeding her matrix all the time. Then also says I should be able to handle D.Va. Yeah, and you’re gonna do what?
I would like to play nothing but Rein too, but if I were to charge in into Pharahs and Bastion you’d be calling “tank diff” and “report our tank for throwing”.

Yeah, so if you actually manage to play against your counters and win, go all for it. But getting slaughtered over and over, it just feeding and you do no one a favor.

what support counters doomfist? that’s what i want to know. ive been getting a rash of these hot shot doomfist players who harass me all game. Which support wards off a doomfist?

I am trying my best… As Reinhardt.

If you want to play nothing but Rein, DO IT COWARD. Turn off text chat, blast some Rammstein, blast the German National Anthem, blast Tanya the Evil OST, and just CHAAAAAAARRRRRGGGEEEE.

Is this in QP or comp?

Well I play Dva into Zarya and have no problems as long as my team doesn’t feed her charge, sometimes it is preferable to stick with heroes you know you are strong with instead of just going for the counterswap over and over

Ana and Brigitte are the common choices. Ana can get a free sleep off of his block, and needless to say, it can really mess up his engage if you are confident you can land it when he jumps in.

Brigitte usually just peels whoever he is diving and you can rally to crumple him if he is out of position.

Otherwise, it makes more sense to go Lucio or Juno and play the avoidance game. Just pre-kite him and try to enable whoever he dives or punish his engage.

I think BasedYatta is also a good choice. Discord him and magdump into him with your second support. Is this a wood five take? Yes. Does it stop me? No

I would definitely go this route myself, but Zenyatta is the only support I was ever any good at.

Generally speaking, as the Doomfist, I eviscerate other Zenyatta. And my Doomfist is pretty dopey.

Brig is good for stopping his punches and whip-shotting him away. Ana if you can hit your sleeps, Juno is good because she can grab high ground easily and avoid his punches, Moira can fade out of his punch, but wouldn’t be my first pick.

Blizz has been incentivizing DPS players into never swapping while forcing tanks into shouldering the entire counterpick weight along with supports.

A smart DPS player would have just swapped to Mei or Symmetra against Diva.

It’s absolutely trying my best. Since I have to outperform the player that swapped me. Playing into a counter is the most try hard way to play OW2.

If anyone deserves to see this QP replay, it’s you

This would probably not have been possible if I didn’t have my sister on Juno. But on the other hand, it probably wouldn’t have been possible if her Rein had been some random person either. We both crushed it :triumph:

So many painful moments. That first shatter is a vibe. I totally do those. I believe I am going to hit both of them and I hit neither. RIP.

:muscle: :skull:

That max distance pin with a max duration bubble saving the Bastion by the skin of his teeth. Boo!

And then the insult to injury with that Mercy hovering just above your (above average sized) hammer.

:muscle: :sob:

It was followed by Rammatra and Sombra swaps where they start focusing you, the champ! Sit down!

:muscle::triumph:

Oh no!!! I thought you were going to solo shatter that freshly resurrected Sombrero. You paid for your honor. Never trust them!

:muscle::weary:

The clutch at the end is such a chef’s kiss. Well done. Extremely satisfying. That’s why Reinhardt is the best. Overcoming those obstacles feels amazing.

Very naisu! Thank you for sharing.

From my experience playing doom. Ana sleep is quite threatening. If you hold onto sleep you can make doom not able to hard engage, it’s why we would try to bait out the sleep dart before we hard engage.

Brig whip shot is good also. Moira and Lucio are also evasive from doom just don’t get caught without Moira fade.

And of course kiriko Suzu can deny follow up shots after your teammates are slammed against the wall

in qp it doesnt matter, as at this point players need to learn how to play into counters. in comp modes you need the gamesense to be able to determine if the “counter” is actually doing its job.
