There was no logic behind the buff lol. I already couldn’t stand the typical insta-KO combo from helix rockets but now it’s worse bruh. Skill issue ik but still

It feels like playing soldier. He was 19 dmg for yrs, and even higher at 20 for years too. 19 with the helix buff is still weaker than he was at 20.

Solider is that busted right now. Literally every single game I played today was decided by who had the Solider/Mercy combo with better aim. That’s it. His damage didnt need buffed.

And yet both 19 and 20 were eventually dropped to 18 when we still had two tanks.

Hes objectively overpowered right now.

The mere fact that they buffed him means people actually STRUGGLED to get him to work on high ranks, or that people were actually complaining about soldier being weak.

At this point i honestly dk whether is blizzard’s fault for blindly following the “community feedback”, or the community being blind about giving good feedback.

No, he was at 20 when we had 2 tanks at the end of ow1. Ow2 is the only time he was ever at 18, the last time he was below 19 was 2016, which started at 17.

It went to 18 in one of the ow2 betas, I think the first not the second.

Its very true that S76 is pretty much a nonexistent pick higher up. His traits simply are not worthwhile enough. It took him getting 20dmg in OW2 to even be considered a top tier pick. Where he got great breakpoints with or without a mercy selection.

The 18 → 19 bullet damage did almost nothing for him in terms of breakpoints. 162 → 171 dps. Its not a huge amount. The bigger changes were to healing station and helix rocket.

The explosion being bigger means you can now secure kills from less aim and form higher up on a person’s health bar. The healing station change is big because it makes him more difficult to kill.

Any of these changes on their own are pretty much not important, but all three combined make a noticeable impact. All of them combined you can shift a duel in your favor.
