I canât stand players who get overly aggressive just to resort to being verbally abusive. However, if Iâm playing comp, I take it seriously. If I want to chill and meme, I go to QP or arcade. It gets frustrating after many comp losses, but I donât take it out on others. I just stop playing for the day and start fresh the next.
Itâs simple. If you want to be competitive and play competitively, you play the âCompetitiveâ mode. If you want to make memes you play QP / Arcade. If youâre joining comp games just to act like a tool, you deserve what you get IMO.
Edit - If youâre actively trying and being a team player and someone is being toxic, thatâs different. Report them.
People who take the game seriously enough to abuse other players in that way are socially stunted children, and need to seriously self reflect about why they really care about a ranking in an online game so much in the first place.
And for the record, those exact same kind of players exist in the higher ranks too. I spent about two seasons up in masters, and it was by far the single most toxic, unfun experience I had ever had with this game.
Players take this game too seriously in every rank.
Even people in GM will rage because they think they deserve to be even higher or a pro. And then people in Bronze think they deserve to be higher if it wasnât for their teammates.
I disagree, I expect just a minimum level of competence where I am at. Thatâs high silver to low plat, youâre tellling me people canât try at the bare minium to understand their role, getting picks, team synergy, use their mic, or just know basic fundamentals?
BULL
ABSOLUTE FREAKING BULL
Do NOT play comp if youâre just trying to mess around, I donât expect a win but I expect you at least to freaking try, and if youâre not going to get the heck out of comp. QP exists for a reason.
Fyi, I am learning Support and Tank, they are my lowest, Damage is my highest.
There is nothing wrong with wanting to win and finding winning to be fun. If thatâs not for you, that is fine too. Everyone is allowed to enjoy what they like, assuming it doesnât interfere with others enjoyment.
No, the mistake most people are making, is blaming the people who donât care or having a bad day, or whatever, for them not being able to rank up. The trolls and such arenât unique to just the blue team. And since the game uses performance based ranking you donât even need a positive win rate to rank up. But people just want an excuse cause they canât accept their rank. But blaming others will not get them anywhere.
Thereâs a reason I play Mystery Heroes 95% of the time now, when I use to play comp. I just want to have fun. Comp has people raging at the smallest things. I had an Ana rage at me the other day because I accidentally woke up a Reinhardt, and she literally sat there in the open taking damage and died to type her sentence.
MH also forces me to use heroes I would otherwise never pick.
