For obvious reasons, tanking is miserable in S9. If the DPS healing debuff and being easier to hit weren’t enough, on top of that Zen is cracked this patch so we’re treated to dealing with discord orb every game.
My tank is currently Plat 5 and the queues pop almost immediately, like literally 3 second queues. Damage players in my games say they’re waiting 5 mins or more for a game, on a Friday night. That’s crazy. Simple estimates indicate there’s over 100x people trying to play DPS for every tank player.
Wonder when the queue times will hit critical mass. Surely more and more tanks are getting discouraged and will swap to DPS or just put OW2 down completely until changes are made. I doubt that gold/plat DPS and support players will tolerate sitting around 10+ minutes to get into a match.
Disgruntled tanks should hang up their hats this weekend. Let the queue times get ridiculous. Let the matchmaking stretch the limits of player skill it’s willing to pair together. Let BlizzTurd come into the office on Monday in full panic mode that competitive matchmaking is on the brink of failure. Surely that’s more fun to contribute to than playing tank.

It’s sad to not be able to enjoy my favourite heroes and the environment of OW but now that i’m free, im able to rekindle my relationship with my singleplayer games which i’ve neglected for so long

I find single player far more peaceful and satisfying.

With fewer tank players aren’t there a bigger chance that you end up in higher elo?
Did the weekly cue all roles and it was mostly tank and support…

for every game length you wait, it is a multiplier on how much of a difference there is.
if there was 100x as many people trying to play DPS. Then…
It would be 50x the game length (since tanks are needed 1/2 as much for a game).
So the DPS queue time would be… (given 10 minute games) - 8 hours, 20 minutes.
I know this is bad news but I’m celebrating because it proves that 5v5 isn’t what fixed queue times and that solo tanking truly is a miserable experience.

I counted. I got in a game tonight at 11pm EST in 6 seconds. SIX. SECONDS.

DPS queue times are noticably higher even in gold where the most players are. It’s not too bad at the moment, but I could instantly tell. It’s going to be a bumpy ride…
Incorrect. Game length is irrelevant, as long as Blizzard’s servers are not at capacity.
DPS wait in queue for a tank. Every 3 seconds a tank comes along and rescues 2 DPS who have moved to the front of the queue.
If the DPS had to wait 5 minutes, this means 99 other games started while they were waiting to play DPS (3 second tank queues = 20 games start per minute). And of course there’s 2 DPS per game, so that means 198 other DPS players got filled.
So yes, in this micro-example of 3 second tank queues and 5 minute DPS queues that I was experiencing yesterday in platinum, at that point in time there were 200x more people trying to play DPS than tank.

Right move was going back to 6v6 like most fans asked, they’d rather completely destroy overwatch than admitting they were wrong so yeah whatever… it’s over

I wouldn’t hate tanking in this patch if the dps would PICK SOMETHING OTHER THAN HITSCAN. It makes me want to rip my eyes out tanking. All this patch has done is made dps players double down on this immobile, poke comp. The tank sets the tempo and guess what? I don’t play shield tanks. Never did in OW1, never will in OW2. I engage with Ball? Hitscan stands there. I engage with Doom? Hitscans stand there. I go in with Winston? Hitscan stands there.
GET OFF HITSCAN. MOTHER OF GOD.
