Place your bets, what will the support changes be?

More like “why would they do that?!”

Given that the stated goal is create vulnerability windows, it seems like they will be needing defensive abilities and to that end:

Kiriko teleport cd increased by 2 seconds.
Ana nade cd increased by 2 seconds
Weaver platform cd increased by 2 seconds and duration reduced 2 seconds
Mercy GA cd increased .5 seconds
Bap ape heal cd increased by 2 seconds
Illari leap cd increased by 2 seconds (though they should target both her and Bap damage as well)
Moira fade cd increased by 1 second

Not really sure what to do with Brig/Lucio and Zen is already vulnerable but they might nerf Discord and/or something with Lucio/Brig knock back.

Seriously if you think they are going to do all this you are out of your mind, it will prolly be ability C/D increase they said they were not gonna do anything drastic where supports are punching bags again like they were in the early seasons…

Ana - If nothing is changed to nade it’s a giant failure and I don’t care.

DPS ability down.
Survivability/escape ability down.
Possible utility up.

This is the one time where I’ll bring up the argument of ‘Illari has a slow fire rate’. They’re two heroes that work fundamentally different, with the only valuable things that Illari brings to the table being high damage and her win con ult. Makes sense she should deal more damage on a comparatively hard skill shot at that point. By comparison, Kiri has the second best util in the game and double the firing speed, not to mention her close range superb healing and second to none escape ability.

Based, but realistically the most he’s getting tuned down to is 24 per shot instead of 25 like pre-OW2.

Me neither, besides there’s plenty of supports that are fine as is.

:skull:

Tank passive doesn’t enable the same balance issues Support Passive does.

Nah nerfing Moira and Mercy is devious, poor souls are already meh enough as is.

Ehhh a man can hope that a billion dollar company actually puts effort into their balance patches.

You mean the beta? As soon as Kiri and OW2 released and people actually got a good grasp of 5v5 the entire DbD meme died down instantly. Inexperience in an environment that enabled more damage opportunities will lead to taking more damage, it just so happens that most of those damage opportunities were directed at supports.

Over reaction and saltiness aside, most OW1 Supps are fine save for Ana and Bap whose stats and uptime are too high. The three new additions are problematic design wise. Illari is fine-ish balance wise but an absolute disgrace design wise since she was designed to be a DPS first and a Support second, with her having 0 utility outside of healing. DPSs have damage, Tanks have CC/Zoning and damage mitigation and Supports have utility. That’s how the game was and should continue to be balanced. When you mix and match these attributes without REALLY considering Hero design you get heroes with bloated kits.

I mean, you can look though the patch notes and see it is the same across the board.

Anyway, I expect some cooldown changes, and that is about it.

This seems like a fun game. I’ll have a go but honestly it’s pretty similar to yours, OP.

Ana:

  • Plus one or two seconds on bionade cooldown.
  • Magazine size reduction. Both Ana and Bap got one either in the betas or in early OW2 and now that people are queuing support, I imagine they’ll be rolled back.

Bap:

  • Revert of the two buffs to IF during OW2, namely the threshold buff (back down to 10%) and the two seconds knocked off IF’s cooldown (so back to 25s, currently 23s).
  • Magazine size reduction. See Ana.

Illari:

  • Rifle drop-off starts at 25m, currently 30m.
  • Pylon down to 35 HPS or something.

Kiriko:

  • Teleport cooldown increased by one second.
  • I don’t think they’ll touch kunai since at most ranks it’s considered hard to hit with. There’s a reason they buffed Kiriko’s kunai bodyshot DPS by seventeen - from seventy-three up to ninety - and it’s not because most people are killing it out there with her.

Lifeweaver:

  • That health reduction seems like a given. Personally I’d like that AND a healing nerf but I don’t think it’ll happen. Perhaps tree will have its ult cost increased by five percent or so, given that it’s good now.

Lucio:

  • Nothing.

Mercy:

  • Nothing.

Moira:

  • The green light/red light April Fool’s change.

Nah, just kidding, she’ll get nothing.

Zen:

  • Discord is now less effective on tanks compared to other targets. I don’t think they’ll start it off low, so let’s say… Discord is now twenty percent on tanks and twenty-five on everyone else.

Holy crap looking back at these after the mid season balance patch I was dead on the money for some of 'em.
