Very simple issue: When I keybind my ping marker, sometimes it just doesn’t register -seemingly at random.
I swap the bind from “g” (default) to “alt”, so it’s more convenient to reach.
For some reason, sometimes in some matches, it just stops working when I press my keybind, and reverts to “g” for no reason. Then a few matches later it will go back to “alt” like I originally bound it. Sometimes it will work just fine an entire day, sometimes it will not work a single match for an entire day. And there’s no pattern.
For context, I have no other game or OS system binds for “alt”, nothing will trigger a different response setting for that key, nor is it affected by shift / tab being active, or any other key combination. I use “alt” in most of my games for some sort of bind, including Diablo 4, Rust, Minecraft, and others - and none of them display this issue after years of playtime. Only Overwatch does this.
I have had this happen for at least 4 seasons now -potentially from the very beginning of Overwatch 2 but my exact memory fails me of when I first started using the ping system extensively. Either way, it’s a long-time issue that hasn’t been addressed, so I wanted to highlight it. I can not on command replicate it, but I will experience it multiple times per week when it hinders my gameplay flow by causing an unexpected interaction that momentarily breaks my line of thought/acts (which isn’t ideal at my rank where fights are fast paced and any unintended disruption/game mechanic can be impactful).
I hope you will look into this, and feel free to ask further questions, though I believe I have stated all the necessary points I can think of.
