Pichu is a perfect example of how

Someone who used to be on the bottom can climb their way to the top. Pichu will be the one to lead the Uprising of neglected video game characters. Let me tell you, having a Hacker(wo)man and a walking Minigun will be a huge boon to that army

He’s talking about pichu in super smash bros ultimate. I would safely assume it is easily one of the modt popular franchoses with very little haters out there and I hardly ever see people complain about balance too much.

Yes some characters are straight out better than others, but because skill and mindgames is the most important element in order to win. Which is a stark contrast to OW where some characters just can’t win certain 1v1s.

Anyway point of OP is that pichu (a character that came out 3 gamereleases ago) went from WORST character of the game to being pretty much high tier without anyone considering him OP.

So he considers pichu to be a model to follow in terms of balancing and that there’s a chance for F tier to become viable.

He seems to have forgotten Blizz has done that multiple times but always ended up overbuffing characters or give in to the whining community whoch forced nerfs on certain heroes. Also, balancing a fighting game whoch people generally play 1v1 is a lot easier than balancing a game where there’s 6v6 with rng elements such as random teammates and their picks, synergy etc.

Sorry for long explanation but it’ complete!

Well to be fair in smash ultimate they pretty much gave every character some cool tools to use. Which is just awesome because thats exactly what tekken does, trying to keep everyone viable at all times.

CR3DT summed it up pretty well

Buff Sombra and Bastion thread.

What? How?

Pichu was the worst in melee thank to his self damage. Pikachu was a way better pick back then.

How is Pichu suddenly one of the best characters in Ultimate?

Small hitbox, good speed, great mix-ups and combo tools plus cute af. As a Yoshi/Pichu main, the self-damage is negligible and you can kill reliably. Sleeping on Pichu isn’t a good idea in this installation.

Yeah but what about my boy King K. Rool? Down tilt, down smash, neutral b, side b for days my dude

K.Rool is a decent fighter, I don’t get the complaints about him, he’s only overwhelming if you don’t know what you’re doing. I saw a Zelda serve up some fried gator just yesterday

You know who is good to sleep on? Bayo. My god they busted her shins this time

I’ve been a Pichu main since Melee. I knew that the heights I could reach with him (I competed competitively) were very limited as a Pichu main. He was intended to be a joke fighter and his weaknesses vastly outweighed his strengths.

I’m super delighted that he’s a viable fighter in Smash Ultimate. His strengths were significantly buffed to balance him against his heavy weaknesses (i.e. being the lightest and self-inflicts damage).

They buffed him. He is able to set up combos that even Pikachu has trouble setting up. His small size actually helps him avoid attacks a little easier (i.e. Samus’ kick will hit Pikachu, but will go over Pichu’s head since he’s so much smaller).

Pichu can edge-guard better than Pikachu. Pichu’s recovery is also better than Pikachu’s, so he can be off-stage trying to secure a kill better than Pikachu.

Pichu’s B-down (lightning strike) also travels in front of him a little, so he can set up combos with it/secure kills with it differently than Pikachu.

Pichu’s tilt Side-A is actually really good, too, because at low %, the enemy will actually trip, and that sets him up for a combo. At high %, the enemy can actually be kill-confirmed with it. The downside is that it’s an electric attack so it damages Pichu each time.

This isn’t “proof” of it or anything since it’s against a CPU, but here is a video I recorded playing against a Level 9 CPU as Pichu. I do a lot of his combos and edge-guarding.

Overwatch has been dying because of no skill heroes.

Smash is a damn good fighting game.

I’m amused knowing there are people out there like that.
