From the Season 13 Spellbinder trailer, we gained a little insight into Phreak. He seems to be into spray-painting like Lucío. He also seems to have some kind of magic crystal ability? And lastly, he seems to be from Australia. Another Junkertown hero? Or maybe even from New Zealand?

the theories are as follows:
- an Oasis (Ministry of Chemistry) experiment gone wrong. we recently saw the logos of two of the oasis ministries (genetics and chemistry) in the runasapi respawn offices, and illari includes notable voicelines that disparage the work of Moira (minister of genetics). could it be about a study extrapolated in that area in collaboration with the Minister of Chemistry?
- if you turn on subtitles, you can see that it says that the speaker is “scottish man”. it could be a new antiomnic faction that has nothing to do with the junkers. in europe there is antiomnic hatred (kings row, paris) and this does not exclude a person from the UK.
- the colors resemble those of los muertos, some of whose members have a hatred for omnics. let’s remember the soldier76 cinematic, or that in hollywood there is the los muertos logo. according to old developer statements, we are protecting the omnic director inside the limousine from an anti-omnic attack.
- in the background of the lab it says “fight back”: it could be a great link to the lore described in the declassified book about los muertos who are trying to reactivate the god AI Xibalba in Mexico, deactivated for precautionary purposes following the rebellion of the AI Anubis that caused the omnic crisis.
- let’s not forget that the declassified book went back to talk about Emre Sarioglu, one of the former overwatch agents (the last guy in the photo of ana orgon story). and recently Sojourn comments in Havana that Emre really liked being there. we could really be dealing with a new ex-overwatch agent who has renegade or who has gone over to an enemy faction (or kidnapped by Talon / Oasis). considering an anti-omnic hatred, i wouldn’t rule out that emre left overwatch following the peaceful collaboration with gabrielle adawe’s omnics.
- last clue, the story luck man (ascendant book) that we will probably see published on the wrbsite in november. sombra recommends jack morrison to go and investigate in oasis, and this individual could have been the consequence of a fight that took place in the laboratory (very similarly to cinematic Reunion where, from the fight between ashe and cassidy, we saw echo’s liberation).
extra: someone noticed online that in some old images of the game you could read that name phreak on the jackets of some european thugs following the closure of Overwatch. it could simply be a faction that would hate the return of Overwatch, but was involved by talon in a forced way (as happened with widowmaker / reaper).
These are all speculations, but I am sure of several elements:
- definitely not a Junker, unless he is just ethically inspired by their anti-omnic operations.
- it is still someone connected to the mass of ferrous matter inside the chemistry lab that exploded.

Some great info here! I like the Los Muertos connection. I really see that now! And the Anti-Omnic theory makes a lot of sense too. Ive seen some Omnic sprays that definitely have some artwork that look similar to the “PHREAK” scene at the end of the Season 13 preview. Very exciting!
