Phreak is frustratingly generic

Another tank that can run away from the team and try to solo everyone is not what the game needs more of, every game i’ve been in has them jumping into the enemy and getting destroyed. I absolutely hate it when tanks like Doom and Ball go off on their own and get killed only to blame anyone but themselves. I 100% see phreak “mains” doing this when he gets released. Its so annoying having to play with characters like this, the team needs a tank not another DPS in a tanks shoes.

Also the abilities are just so…meh. We get another character with a lock on ability with the addition of defense at the same time. The abilities don’t feel oppressive to an entire team they feel like abilities you use to single people out. Maybe i’m looking at the tank role wrong because its my least favorite role but why give a tank abilities a DPS should have? His whole kit feels too oppressive to be a tank character, I don’t see him taking out multiple people at once I just see him finding a unfortunate soul whos by themselves then maybe winning.

Also the design is just meh, he looks like if Mauga and sigma had a child or something, he makes Venture look like an upstanding citizen which says a lot. My mine gripe with this character is that this just feels like another DPS character in disguise, I don’t like him and his kit just feels boring, every match i’ve been in with him its just him running away and doing his own thing.

Tanks aren’t supposed to be shieldbots I’m sorry to break that to you. That’s why nobody liked playing tank because you wanted somebody to hold left trigger in front of you watching you play a game and try to get kills while they stand there enabling you as if they’re just an AI companion.

I meant he has too many oppressive abilities, i don’t think tanks as shield bots, they should have good amount of both defense and attack that benefit yourself and the team. Phreak is all oppression.

A tank job is also to push forward and make space

Tanks feeding sounds like a teammate issue. Try lifeweaver?

But in all seriousness. You just have to choose if you want to try playing with the tank, or the rest of the team and attempt to soften the enemies up for when your tank gets back from spawn and push with him at that point.

There is very little that can be done with feeding teammates. Either you take off angles and pick off the enemies that are distracted, or you play a brawly dps and go in with him.

For sups, both work. Either you pick a ranged support like ana, or hover closer by and try your best on heroes like moira or brig.

Yeah thats literally the point

His leap is really not much to write home about as far as mobility goes. His leap’s nice and all but he’s no Doom or Ball, that’s for sure. I don’t really see any trouble in keeping up with the guy.

As far as mindlessly running in and getting destroyed? Well, that’s how it has to be or we end up with stuff like Release Mauga.

Lol, I was gonna say he is a “venture level” of ugly. Glad I am not alone.

If we accounted for every possible way someone could play a hero poorly no hero would ever be released. Frankly I think it’s insane that Blizzard had the balls to release another Tank capable of diving.

He’s going to be at the center of complaints for a long time just based on this alone. I like dive, but I know many don’t.

Outside of his primary fire I actually like his kit. There’s a lot of player expression/creativity possible with his kit and that’s generally a good sign for a solid kit design.

I don’t think a DPS should have the ability to mitigate lots of damage or an ability to create cover. Every other thing in his kit exists in some form with tanks already

Dive tanks generally aren’t good at 1vx. They provide disruption for the rest of their team to come in and rip a choke or point apart. Hazard is unique in that all of his disruptive abilities including his mitigation tool do damage as well.

Both characters designs are dog water and trying to crown one the least bad looking is pointless. Venture was designed to express through gameplay and Hazard is the opposite of this. Both miss the mark and by how much doesn’t really matter.

It’s day one of early access, I’m not going to say whether I like him or not. All I can say is he shows promise and at least isn’t immediately disappointing like Mauga was.

People on a brand new hero testing their limits to see how far they can go on a hero before dying? I’m really interested in why you feel bad for players out of position dying to a tank that takes an advantageous 1v1.

The people that want tank to just be “stand in front of team and be a cc/bullet sponge” don’t realize heroes that play like that are why tank is the least played role. Even ow1 tanks are DPS in disguise it’s just been emphasized more in the world of a single tank. Tanks that don’t do actual damage would not be enough threat for them to make space for their team.

D.va, Zarya, Winston. I rest my case

is literally what a tank should do, protect the team and absorb damage, if you dont like that you can play call of duty, but dont worry, blizzard wants to convert ow in call of duty, with no strategy just pewpew

I only read the first paragraph, and all your issues come down to people who are playing him incorrectly. They think Hazard was designed to be another doomfist but he plays more defensively than offensively. He wants to bait people in and lock them down like Mei or jump on out-of-position enemies, burst them down, and then get back out, a lot like D.VA.

The problem is he is more of a rush than dive tank. His mobility is not quite enough, and his self preservation is not quite enough. He IS good at chasing down kills, which makes him a good candidate for all-out brawl comps.

Translation- i just want a tank to stand behind and then blame when things go wrong.

This is standard for most dps/supports nowadays, they dont want to/cant be pro active so as a tank youre forced to be an afk bot and pray your team does something or try make a play and watch helplessly as your team standa aimlesaly behind you not wanting to move anywhere
