Pharah vs Junkrat

I am 100% sure I will get flame for this. But why does Junkrat not get damage the same as a Pharah would from explosions? I get tired of seeing Junkrats just standing in their damage and nothing happening but if a Pharah shoots a rocket near her she takes damage.

Is this not something to be looked at? Sorry all you JR mains but this is something that should be looked at.

Dont you know junkrat is broken?

It’s because junkrats passive is to not take damage from his explosives while pharahs passive is to have the ability to hover. This is what makes heroes different in OW. Each with their own abilities specialties and passives.

Because there’s no need for Pharah to be immune? Like seriously she’s flying more than half the time, if you’re hitting your face with your own rockets, then learn to fly before learning to aim.

If Pharah didn’t take damage she’d follow you into tight spaces.

Trust me, you don’t want that.

If pharah was primarily an area denial hero sure, but she ain’t.

Extend your logic. The good pharahs like Valkia aready hug walls before engaging, what you’re suggesting is that she could play like a zenyatta and have no need to ever fly. Pharah can only normally be downed if she is out of position ie balloning in the air in front of a dps or someone is focusing her down close up most of the time. She absolutely has to have the weakness of needing space to shoot her rockets or else why would you pick literally anything else? What would even be the fun of picking her?

because blizzard likes having no skill heroes have a bigger impact than high skill heroes, so the baddies can play without whining that they cant aim.

He used to damage himself and was pretty much considered a troll pick because players would either keep blowing themselves up or just feed enemy healers ult charge by spamming useless damage from 3 blocks away.

Their kits are different, pharah can fly for a hell of a long time and do a ton of damage from a huge distance and be a pain for everyone on the enemy team (even if the have a hitscan) and in most cases as a pharah you dont need to shot so close to yourself, and if you do its a risk because of the self damage

for a junkrat you cant stand so far off and deliver consistent damage to the enemy team, sometimes you have to jump in because of the projectile travel time and the ballistics of the grenades to do damage to the targets and self damage in this case will deny this playstyle
also junkrat is used a lot as an area denial hero, taking a closed area like the hotel in kings row and killing anything that tries to get in there. and to do that effectively you need to be able to jump in and out of your own nades.

and like raaskyl said, he used to do self damage and blizzard removed that so he can be a better more consistent hero

i dont think pharah needs that buff to her kit would make her very strong in small areas, and i dont think junk needs that nerf either
both are good as they are with their own abilities in their kits

its because junkrat is op

Junkrat is a close-ish range hero and tbh the reason is Pharah is basically a 120dps hero in close range which is insane. If she was allowed to operate as a flanker, getting into melee range and bursting a target in 2 seconds before getting out, Genji would seem UP. Junkrats harder to aim in a close range 1v1 duel.
gasp whaaa yes. Try dueling a genji up close with no mines.

No, it’s not.
Everyone who was around when he used to damage himself knows this would bring him back to almost useless. You could counter him by just putting a barrier near him.
His primary fire is only semi reliable at close range, where he would take damage. It also bounces back at you lots of time when you are in a tiny room.
Pharah can fly, she doesn’t get in the situation where the self damage is that prejudicial as it was for Junkrat

I agree that Junkrat should take self-damage from his nades. Come up with a new passive for him please.

I think at some point he used to take damage and they removed but I am not sure. I like junk as he is now (support main)

Junkat is objectively better in almost every single way except Pharah can fly and has a bigger splash radius.

its because Pharrah is not a closecombat hero… and playing pharrah is more shameful than playing Junkrat could ever be. Everytime im forced to play hero because of another junk otp/main i play pharrah and everytime i feel like an aduld beating up 3year old kids. Its just redicilous how pharrah doesnt have real counters and at long range you only have to fear good widows. And every time i jump up and take down a pharrah as Junkrat… thats the best feeling. David vs Goliath like win.

He has two passives. No self damage and bombs exploding from his corpse when he dies.

He used to take self-damage, he was considered garbage tier in ways not even torb and sym was since he could counter by tanks literally walking into him and make him take self damage(Heck, tanks are still killing him when they dive on top of him. The self damage made it faster.).

Junkrat nowadays aren’t even seeing much use aside from lower tiers.

Leave it to the community having horrible opinions.

Pharah is long due for some QoL improvements. Canceling ult would go a very long way to making her less unforgivable to play and the way maps/gamemodes are constructed in the game she could use at least a reduction in self-dmg so that the best strategy for the whole roster is no longer walking/dashing/shielding straight into her. Let alone the random useless clutter on ceilings in a lot of maps that can easily best you by accident.
Nothing in this game is as unforgiving as playing Pharah and I really fail to see why that has to be the case just because she was hard to counter on consoles for a long time.
Quality of life improvement is not a buff.
