Can we get some buffs to her base form and directs>AoE
1st of all, remove all self damage from the game, besides tracer because hers is too funny.
Increase her base rocket knockback by 25-50%
Adjust damage from 40/80 (direct+Splash) to 70-60(or 60/60 but try 70/60 first.
nerf passive jets by like 20-40%
It is a little tricky as buffing Pharah could make her stronger with a Mercy. Unless we also nerf Mercy which is not ideal.
Or if we make her counters like Echo stronger which might be worse as Echo and hitscans are already really strong.
The big thing that Mercy amps is the 80 splash, so if you reduce that but buff the rest of her kit she’s less mercy dependent.
You know, I don’t think Pharah is that bad a hero at all. Maybe she can’t be played at ultra high ranks, but should she be able to? Is it even possible to make every hero viable at every rank?
For Pharah, I think she does solid damage, but she’s reigned in because her flying is both a blessing and a curse. I think that if we start throwing wacky changes onto Pharah without thinking things through will give us…
…well, it’ll give us Overwatch 2. Where people ask for changes, and then complain about those very same changes or the ramifications of those changes.
This change is a direct hit to splash change which is what should be changed so she can be decent picks at both levels of play
Pharah needs a rework. She breaks with the slightest amount of constant healing on her, and Mercy only happens to be the easiest one. She used to be more powerful with Zen’s old harmony orb on her than with a Mercy.
Pharah isnt Mercy dependent. She is mostly healing dependent.
Pharah by herself is not that string, but with a good Mercy she can be unstoppable unless you have a God Widow player on your team that has 100% accuracy.

THEY WILL never touch pharhamercy because they dont want to lose the saudi arabia money.
I think Saudi cares more about “the gay” than YZNA’s preferred hero. And that hasn’t really stopped them.
Besides which, they can design Pharah to have more potential skill expression, while being worse in lower ELOs.
i.e. Let’s say
PHARAH
- Jumpjet fuel regen cut in half
- SelfDamage from PrimaryFire disabled
- Self-Knockback from PrimaryFire tripled
That would have an extremely high skill ceiling, while also raising the skill floor.
You cant make phara better while mercy exists though.
If shes good without the pocket then shes better with the pocket.
Blue beam breaks thr balance. Its poorly designed and needs to be reworked
The blue beam hate is cope. Remove it, and then people complain about Mercy healing Pharah in the air. Remove Mercy entirely, and people complain about the fact that Pharah can fly forever.
The worst part? If they do this:
People will complain that she’s good. The best course of action is to ignore the community and give the characters the buffs and nerfs they need.
Thats a skill issue, not a balance issue.

Yrah people will always find something to complain about but is that an excuse to allow an ability that makes the game impossible to balance?
YZNA’s prefer hero? is not about that… if they touch pharhmercy , then YZNA’s will cry and the saudi arabia players will get angry then blizzard will lose money.

Well generally, don’t ignore the “Problems” the community is posing. But often ignore their Solutions.
Mostly because they often aren’t trying to balance for maximizing playerbase sizes, and usually just a “Nerf the crap out of the hero I don’t like”.
Or “Solve the hero for my ELO” while ignoring all the other ELOs.
Pharah will never receive changes to make her viable without Mercy that isn’t a full rework. She’s the only hero whose specific counters are the only way to realistically deal with her, and making her strong enough to go against them solo will make her absolutely nightmarish to fight against. Mercy would just be icing on the cake at that point.
There is also the alternative of committing to Mercy being a pocket bot, so having Zen like healing, with damage boost buffed back to 30% as compensation.
People have certainly complained about infinite flight. I don’t know if you noticed it, but one of the best suggestions for Pharah in this thread also cuts her fuel to combat the infinite flight a bit. Its a consistent complaint about Pharah.
That’s a tough question. Personally, I think its already impossible to balance in the way the community wants. No matter what, there’s going to be heroes that rise to the top, or heroes with annoying abilities.
For individual abilities, we could certainly try to nerf and reign them in, but we have to acknowledge that the ability must be impactful. If Damage Boost was too weak, Mercy would still be problematic, but in the opposite direction.
If we remove it and add her another healing ability, then she’s problematic as a pure heal bot. If we give her an ability to do damage herself, I think the complaints would just shift a bit to that thing.
Maybe the solution is just to accept the ability? Has anyone considered that? I don’t think so because people have adopted the mindset of “my fun is more important than anything else, and if I don’t like something, then its bad and should be removed”.
Oh, yeah. That’s a great idea, too. So clearly look into damage boost, but don’t take radical actions like remove it and replace it with an ability that’ll just cause more issues.

Personally I’m kinda centering on these types of approaches for that
- A. Damage boost either does a lot less, or nothing, beyond 40m range. (And some tweaks for Ult charge stuff)
- B. Headshots are considered to be damage boosts. No headshot modifiers above 2x (Although maybe add a DoT for the extra damage). Cap damage boosts at 2x damage.
