I’m not talking about disadvantageous matchups or even skill-based matchups. I’m saying:
Many heroes cannot interact with her.
She can float out of the range of heroes like Sym, Doom, Junk, Reaper, Rein, Zarya, Winston and literally never be touched by them under any circumstances while killing them with her generous rocket explosions.
This is bad design.
She gets countered by a number of hitscan DPS, that’s true. But she has very reasonable options to counterplay the counter. Cover, divebombs, smart engages etc. The heroes Pharah counters CAN’T do that with her.
People who insist Pharah is weak or countered by air molecules seem to think that the optimal Pharah playstyle is to pick the most exposed area of a map, float straight up into the air, and hover in place while enemy Ashes shoot you down for free. That’s not a hitscan problem, that’s a PEBCAK.
Rework this hero to significantly reduce her verticality.
Echo may have been historically stronger but never feels as oppressive as a strong Pharah because there’s always counterplay from any hero. She does not completely remove interaction the way Pharah does.
Countering should be skillbased and not extreme. The way Pharah hardcounters things violates that.

Go Rein Zarya Lucio Ana/Moira rush. Run forward with speed. Sweep over her teammates who are on the ground before she has time to try to rocket anyone down esp since you’re sprinting across the ground at 80 mph. Then when her whole team has been trampled, cap the point. She will have to drop down into the range of a Zarya beam in order to contest, or she will just keep flying above uselessly spamming rockets that are easily healed through.
Why is this so hard for people to understand in low ranks. The heroes you mentioned as being “unable to interact with Pharah” like Sym, Mei, Zarya, Rein, Reaper, Doom, are literally the BEST for this.
Literally was playing diamond comp on Lijang the other day and our team was running Rein Zarya Lucio Ana rush. We sped into the enemy team and crushed through their Reinheart and Zarya and backline so fast, then turned and capped point, and I realized the reason we won so fast was because they had a Pharmercy in the sky the whole time trying to kill people. As soon as our Zarya realized this, she spent the next fight trying to kill the Pharmercy ? and ignored our team when we all rushed forward.
She then proceeded to get mad when our team said to “Just ignore the Pharah and focus on the ground enemies”. And left voice chat and went Hog and tried shooting Pharah out of the sky. So we lost that round. When we would have won if we just ignored the Pharah all game.
You guys would all literally be better off against Pharah if you ignored her. Stop wasting time and resources trying to poke her out of the sky, and kill the people sitting on the ground with only 1 support behind them. Obviously there are some maps where this is difficult because the map is too open to really Rush, but those maps are where long range hitscan shine and Pharah usually is bad anyways.
I wouldn’t mind a rework but seriously she’s not that big of a problem
Like when both teams have Pharmercy and they’re just aimlessly shooting eachother and missing over and over in the sky all game and the two Mercy players are just floating there watching like “Ok…maybe she will land a rocket…nope? Ok maybe this one will hit. No? Ok…”
I just go doom, diag punch in the sky and hand cannon-uppercut combo her to death (also can work on mercy). And if they rez usually I can have punch to deny it
If it doesn’t work the first or second try then I just hard focus their ana who is the only support to their frontline
I see what you’re to say, and its true in a way, if the enemy is running rein zarya pharmercy then you can run them over unless the pharahs really good at picking your supports off while rushing (which isn’t uncommon, and it’s not too hard to pick off like an ana while the team is rushing yours).
If the enemy is running pharmercy + Rein zarya, then yeah, but that’s on them for running a silly comp. Why on earth would you run a mercy with a rein zarya? Tbf, no wonder you ran over their rein zarya in diamond. That would mean either
They were running mercy lucio rein zarya (trash comp)
Or
Running rein zarya without a lucio (lol)
Now any other normal scenario, like running pharah with more independent tanks like ball and sigma with a pharmercy, then things become much more tricky. Who are you going to rush? Maybe the sigma, but he’s likely to be taking off angles on the high ground, and the pharmercy is the one that dive bombs you.
Ok here’s the important part though as to why people hate her:
You either can’t ignore them (your team isn’t running a specific comp to counter her, therefore you have to run hitscan), Or you HAVE to ignore her, like yeah on someone like mei, sym, reaper, etc. That’s the frustrating part, and you need like full team comp and coordination to counter her, even with full team coordination, it’s extremely difficult when the enemy isn’t running a silly comp like rein zarya mercy lucio.
I’m not saying she’s OP by the way, just explaining it’s not as easy as “just rush the team” and how frustrating she can be. I don’t play on console but I especially feel for these players. I cannot imagine how frustrating it’d be fighting her.
Whenever I play pharah against pharmacy very rare, one trick I use is get below her and directly boost upward into her and shoot it’s almost like a aerial melee battle, most of the time you can follow it up and then blast the pocket slave if she tries rez.
The thing with this technique is you do self DMG at that range but it feels so good.
The only time I find pharah fun is these aerial dog fights vs another pharh or echo.
Otherwise she is meh.

I hate playing against NanoBlade, when it’s pulled off your chance of reaction are absolutely close to 0, unfun to play against and it’s literally 0 interaction, please rework Ana or Genji.
