This game has zero customization. It is like playing in an internet cafe where every computer is the same, look the same, use the same default hardware, no customization! (except for the boogers on mouse and keyboard)
Literally every other game has more customization than OW.
Skins are our only joy for that matter and locking the best ones for 11 our of 12 months a year is really a jerk move.
The skin you use should be somewhat unique because of the choice of skins there are, not because many people never get the chance to get it.
For me personally, this issue makes me barely play anymore. A new, cool skin is often the little extra motivation I’d need to play some more, but the way you can and can not get them has 2 major negative effects on my play time:
A) I burn out during events trying to get all the skins I like.
B) I stop playing for months after burning out and because the skins I would like to use aren’t available for many more months.
What would be the point of events anymore? Most of the community when it comes to events it’s mostly about SKINS. Having them available all year would make them less special.

When I get all the skins I want I CBA to play either because I played my @ss off during the event and am burned out for the next few months.
Is that what they want to achieve? People over-playing? I thought their goal was to make money but it doesn’t seem to work out.
I want colour customisation.
We already have color customization. It’s called skins. xD
The cheap, non-event skins are almost all just recolorations.
So when you do the math, 50% of the true skins are event skins.
They’ve been doing fine money-wise, as I must agree some people play their asses off during events to get the lootboxes, most people keep playing during the rest of the year, maybe not as much, but they keep playing.
Talking about money, if they aren’t event exclusive anymore, noone would buy lootboxes during events since you can get it any time.
Won’t happen
They could just raise the price outside of events, if money is the issue here.
Point being, I would rather spend a little cash outside of events than replace my real life with events in a game.

Just in case: Have a UI to let players customize colours themselves, except for OWL skins (duh. Team colours)
Yeah but that just raises the argument of why nkt buying the lootboxes during the even when theyd essentially be “cheaper” than buying them outside of said event?

Yea I got you, but that would instantly make all their recolored default skins useless. I agree with you, I am always for more customization, but I got my doubts they would go for it.
I’m aware it would, but they could have you pay x in-game credits to purchase a recolour slot, or find one in loot boxes. Just a suggestion
You are not thinking it through. There are always ways to lock something behind a pay wall. It is not like they invented events because it is the only way a game could sell anything. It is just one of many.

If they dare put something else than OWL skins behind a paywall, there will be riot.
Lootboxes are somehow fine as it is now. I don’t think they will change it anytime soon as they can use the argument of : grinders can get it all but if you don’t want to grind you can pay for it.
They already did. Event skins are behind a pay wall unless you got about 12k currency saved up or somehow get lucky during 24/7 gaming to get to drop all the skins.
