Petal platform should not counter Zarya's grav

What a f******* joke. Are you saying that a platform of whatever it is made, is stronger than gravity itself? Fix this crap.

I mean, it does lift up a fat serial killer that probably has enough body mass to be a black hole.

Im getting really tired of people still not understanding that physics and game mechanics are not the same thing

It’s an ult against an ability on cooldown. Ult > cooldowns. No wonder this game is in a crap state with abilities being better than entire ‘‘ultimates’’.

Yes it should.

Considering how strong Zarya is right now with very little counterplay, I am sure she will survive.

Tank ults are the strongest and most broken ults in the game, so suck it up.

even gameplay wise it doesnt feel fair

especially when you cant even use wraith/fade etc while inside the grav

but a cooldown that comes so often you cant really track it…yeah lets negate an ult

even mei wall cant negate grav, you are still attracted to it, but you are on the wall

yeah the legion of LW players really make this an issue

lmao

Are you saying that a Zarya bubble of whatever it is made, is stronger than a DVA nuke? Fix this crap.

Most of OW doesn’t seem fair. Which is why idc when people say it feels unfair. If it feels that way to you, there’s nothing I can say to change that. Just please, stop using real world logic to try and justify those feelings. It’s not a real black hole, earth doesn’t get swallowed up in it, it’s 2 game mechanics that do the opposite.

It’s like the one bit of utility he has.

So is it ok when Dva uses dm to absorb grav? What about genji deflecting it? Those have been in the game since the beginning. You can’t say “just demech dva first” because the same logic applies to killing LW first. Platform is an ability on a 12 second cooldown and is one of Lifeweavers primary escape tools, and there are STILL ways to play around it even when he has the platform off cooldown.

Grav under low ceilings or on slopes. Platform often will not activate in those instances. Grav on the wall so the players in it are not on the ground. Even if the platform is tossed under them, it won’t trigger unless someone is touching the floor. Force LW farther away from his team so he has a chance of messing up the toss. You’d be surprised how buggy that ability can be.

By this logic, no character should be able to:

  • Stop a rolling multi-ton wrecking ball with a boop.
  • Sleep or poison any robot or omnic.
  • Hack an unaugmented human.
  • Affect a floating character with bear traps, molten goo, etc.
  • Hook a multi-ton mech and pull it.
  • Survive a punch from a giant gorilla (unless they’re a robot or augmented).
  • Survive a drill.
  • Survive any weapon to the head, regardless of type.

hate to say it, but…lots of characters have cooldowns that counter ults…

Well this is not a turn-based RPG. You still need actual motor skill and game sense to use your ults well the same way any other character needs motor skill and game sense to use well their cooldowns. If the ultimates were balanced around “Press Q to win the teamfight”, the game would be very boring and the team to win the first team fight would win the game because of ult economy.

I feel like having an incentive to think before pressing Q is a good design.

Same as Shield against many other ults, or projectile eating abilities against ults, or immortality field, or lot of other things vs ult…
Just track coldouns of hero, who might ruin your ult - that´s what most people do.

I think it’s fine. It doesn’t fully counter it. I’ve seen a good share of it saving someone and entire teams blowing up anyways. You got out played, it happens.

i honestly seen a glitch with grav and orisa somehow she is able to walk out of grav while others cant

:joy: I’m still waiting for the IRL April fools patch. Just imagine if ramattra, bastion, Orisa, and zen all ran out of battery and just died. :joy:

Pretty sure is a very intuitive interaction really. Grav doesn’t go through walls, stays on the player / first surface it touches and petal, just elevates that.

So Im going to pull the AKSHTUALLY petal doesnt counter Grav, it just makes it harder to capitalize on it. DM/Grasp/Deflect would be the counter.
