Perks are done WRONG

Perks should be about having 2 alternative builds for each hero, each with a very different playstyle.

Let’s take Ana as an example:

A total of 3 builds, selectable in the spawn room.

  1. Balanced: basically the default kit
  2. Aggressive:
  • Nade: no longer heals. Only deals damage and anti-heal effect.
  • Sleep: 2 charges with half the effect each
  • Rifle: deals headshot damage. 2x multiplier.
  • Nano: the same as the current perk. Applies to both Ana and the target.
  1. Defensive:
  • Nade: no longer applies anti-heal, with slightly improved stats and reduced cooldown.
  • Sleep: easier to land at close range for a guaranteed self defense.
  • Rifle: deals headshot healing with a x1.5 multiplier
  • Nano: slightly easier to get (Lower ultimate cost)

You basically select one of 3 builds in the spawn room and you stick with it the entire round.

The current version of perks is basically the same game, fundamentally. OW needs a bigger shake up with a better implementation.

I’m with you, but for the time being I’d quite happily settle for the “perks are immediately selectable in the spawn room” bit.

Thx god people didnt notice Torb perks yet :zipper_mouth_face:

Ok when thinking about it, this might become broken in the right hands. Let it remain the standard sleep with 1 charge only.

But you get the idea.
Same hero Ana, who is either offensive, defensive, or balanced.

It’s actually doable with little dev time. They don’t need fancy new animations and VFX to deliver variety.

Just by being daring and tweaking the numbers a bit, they can reach great results.

People were down about Torb perks after they were shown in the preview, but I love 'em. I haven’t even tried sticky turret yet, I’ve been enjoying level three turrets on Overload.

Level up thing need to be fully scrapped, i want to choose my build in main menu before game, learn from paladins that’s how you do build/perks

sticky is best, lvl3 is not really lvl3

Perks are a good idea, their addition to the game is poorly done, because rushed in panic mode.
Perks are not going to save Overwatch 2, the disadvantages are currently greater than the advantages, and regarding the capacity of the dev team, I doubt they will be able to reverse the trend, unless they completely redo their integration by throwing away everything that has been done before.
Which will not happen.

I’ll be honest, I haven’t actually checked out the numbers. Sticky’s probably more fun but I already go with the Overload → insta-reload minor, so having Overload also buff my turret for extra value (even if it turns out to be minor) seems like the obvious choice.

Should be obvious but you never know with these devs, it’s bad design it makes the game even more stompy/frustrating and swapping character reset your level to zero, new round also reset level ??

let me choose before game and everyone start with their perks
