5vs5 with one single op tank and bad balance still will be present, plus the awfull changes of season 9, passives and more problems the unbalanced perks will bring, will still be a problem, bad new modes and maps will stay.
however the biggest problem the game have and perks and stadium will only make more evident, the painfully slow developement cycle, the lack of quick updates, one character every 4 months, maps sometimes are not launched when they should, basic features take years to be implemented, and you know the usual, to make it worst they split the developer team in two, exclusive content for a glorified arcade mode some people will eventually abandon after tryin because only want to play ranked or quickplay, and lets see if they keep playing with perks making the game a mess. lets see how long the novelty last, when they update stadium with one character every 2 seasons or seasons without new maps or talents, mmm, abandoned mode
remember hero mastery coop? remember they promised update the mode and was removed in one season, normal hero mastery only ads one character per season and some seasons they have failed to update
which inevitable the cycle will repeat again, i dont trust them to update stadium quick enough. perks, people will use the same perks when they found the best or the ones they like more making the other perks pretty much irrelevant, i already picked some perks for some characters i use and see no point to pick others, instad of perks every character should had a rework and ad more abilities to reduce power creep
You’re free to make predictions of course, nobody’s asking you to put faith in them. But ultimately it’s not a fact and we can only wait and see. Personally I’m seeing a lot of positive signs though. I think the profits gained from the China relaunch in particular is gonna have a pretty significant (positive) impact on their development schedule.
I mean they’ve already shown off four new maps for Stadium, with hints at entire new gamemodes that we’ve not seen before in the game. Like come on.
Perks will be fun for a bit just like junks lab was. But then it’ll become obvious that they make the game even more unbalanced, and Ana will be in even more games with her perks, and complaints will start to flood in.
People are enjoying rivals without great balance and with OP heroes, so I think OW is trying that out to see if it can bring the spark back. It will for a while probably but my guess would be that it won’t have longevity either in Rivals or OW. Rivals will have to sort out balance at some point.
same ow2 maps but smaller, a paris rework wasted on that mode instead of main modes and a map that dont even have textures, the mode was rushed to compete with marvel rivals, lets not pretend it wasnt. i mean they launched flashpoint and almost two years later we have the same two maps since launch, push only get one after more than two years and clash was outright removed because is so bad, they plan a lot of things, start making them but never finish them
what nobody realizes is that overwatch players only want to play main modes, when they make anything permanent people stop playing, of course doenst help that developers never do anything, never update those modes, and perks like i said people will only pick the same they like, ranked players will pick the most op, if they dont get frustrated because the character they want to use keeps getting baned
there is a difference, rivals is a simple game, ow2 developers had to make it a lot more complicated, a new player will see stadium with a store, passives and a lot of numbers they dont know what they mean and will feel overwhelmed
well they have 4 maps planned is better than flashpoint, however, what a waste of paris, a push map on an arcade mode, paris is amazing. there was a map that didnt even have textures, the mode will be rushed and the developement cycle may be very slow, thats the core problem of overwatch 2, i have listen their promises a lot of times and seeing the potential ow had being wasted
Yea apparently it takes rocket science for the shills around here to understand that Blizzard didn’t announce anything of relevance. The IP needs expansion beyond being a slop boring PVP game.
It needs expansion, but not necessarily beyond being a PVP game (Though that would obviously be amazing, nobody denies that). That’s why we’re getting Stadium.
in theory there is nothing wrong with pvp expansion and make fresh things, but is blizzard and overwatch we are talking about so 0 hope and 0 trust, and bad reputation of the lies of pve and lack of lore will never dissapear, if story had something to teach us about overwatch is that players hate anything that isnt the quick play and ranked, they abandon every other mode and developers do the same
It does solves the counterswap issue to some level. Sure you can counter via the hero upgrades/mods but at least I don’t have to swap to a hero that I don’t enjoy or bad at.
As for hero mastery, there’s no replayability so no one gonna play it once people finished all the hero mastery challenges
a game where you can change characters in the middle of the match will never solve a counterswap problem until they remove the swap feature, perks will increase the counter swap problem anyway, some characters have very busted perks and very lame perks, or what if you pick the wrong perk? anyway thats not the main problem of the game but the developers
hero mastery coop they promised will have constant updates and did absolutely nothing with it, the problem again are the developers who will fail to deliver their promises, developement of stadium or the main modes will be stale again eventually, how many times the cycle will repeat, why this time will be different?
Regarding perks making the game even more balanced, I don’t think that will be too much of a problem. The game is never going to be 100% balanced anyways and I doubt the implementation of perks will make the game significantly more unbalanced if done right.
Besides, too much balance isn’t always a good thing anyways. Chess is the most balanced tactical game there is and it’s not exactly fun compared to say, a card game like MtG which has more unbalanced elements that keeps the game exciting; but still balanced enough for the game to be competitive.
A good balance between fun and fairness is probably the best in terms of exiciting gameplay rather than one or the other.
marvel rivals did well, bans are only on high ranks, ow developers even when are forced to copy something from a more loved game they find a way to ruin it, bans on every role, well thanks for nothing developers, thanks for making me stick with my choice of not playing rank ever again, dont get surprisesd when you find platinum players in top 500
you have a point, however there is a difference between trying to make everything balanced and boring and relase busted perks that eventually will ruin the experience for everyone, however, my main point is not perks, the problem are not the perks itself but the slow developement time and the lies from developers, they are overpromising again
literally skill issue, if you find chess boring is because you cant
Looking at perks, you will still see same heroes. They specifically made perks in way, that doesn’t disturb status quo, so strong heroes remain strong and weak heroes remain weak.
