Ten thousand damage over two quick rounds of control a 3 to 1 kill death ratio with 22 kills and six deaths. 14 helix rocket kills while also playing on the objective to get the objective time stat to improve performanced based Sr. Is worth 19 Sr. Forty percent accuracy. If that’s not either skewed by smurfs or broken I honestly can’t tell.
Dude I got 41 elims and 62% kill participation with Dva the other day and still only got 20sr for it. (62% kill participation - i CARRIED that team)
Me and a friend played dps (me) and support (him) in game this weekend. I had 64% kill participation, he had 32% kill participation with 17k healing (together thats LITERALLY 94% of the kills). We still lost and both of us lost 22 sr.
I’m just completely perplexed now, I don’t know what it takes.¯l_

Idk man I have similar feeling, it seems that its harder to get as much sr as in past. Maybe so many people on alts playing better than they should in their rank is reason behind this as they affect the average stats a lot.
I can’t believe PBSR is still in the game. Why is it only for plat and below? The same rules should apply for all ranks. Comp is comp whether you’re GM or bronze or anything in between.
Because by Diamond it’s expected that you understand the basics of the game (like recognizing that you didn’t carry your team, your team won or lost together, medals don’t matter even a little, etc.) and have gained basic proficiency with your preferred characters. If someone in the lower ranks invests the effort to get good, helping them climb a bit faster limits the amount of ammo the conspiracy theorists can pick up. It’s already ridiculous how often someone slightly better than someone else in the same rank is accused of being a GM smurf, without PBSR not even all of AWS could handle the load. ![]()
Conspiracy theorists have more ammo with PBSR in place imo. If everyone on a team gains and loses the same amount of SR, you can’t say “I carried more than this person, how come they gained more SR than me?”. I would love to see more stats in the game besides just medals, but even I’ll admit that stats alone don’t tell the whole story when it comes to personal performance. Therefore it is an inadequate evaluation. Want to teach lower ranks how to work better as a team? Removing PBSR would be a great first step.
No, I want lower ranks to learn the basics. They can add team play when the basics are second nature instead of a distraction.
When players learn the basics, all the people whining about “GM SMURFS IN SILVER OMGGGGGG” want those players out of their ranks too. I want the players who worked to get good to climb out faster so they can start working on improving at the meta game.

The smurfing problem exists in all ranks. Obviously there are going to be a lot more smurfs in silver than GM since there are more people capable of smurfing in silver. But that has nothing to do with PBSR.
Sure removing PBSR may make it harder for smurfs to climb, but also harder for them to throw down to bronze. The smurfs aren’t going anywhere whether PBSR exists or not. I would love for the same rules of GM to also apply in plat. Such as no 3 stacks, etc. It’s just a shame I would have to get into the top 1% of players in order to enjoy comp the way I would like.
It is - and Diamond is kind of a basic rank in Overwatch.
Before that, the basics that matter are the ones that need to be second nature by the time you hit Diamond, so you can start improving at the stuff that requires active thinking without being burdened with distractions.
I had a game which I carried hard, had gold kills, 15k gold damage, like 40 elims, 15 headshots (McCree), around 12 kills with deadeye, only 6 deaths. Got 9 SR!!! I thought I’ll have like 30, but only 9.
And there was a game, where I was super bad, zero medals, very few kills, I mostly fed the enemy (I had 13 deaths), I had a very bad day. We still won and I got 29 SR. 
I don’t know what is going on with PBSR or what it is based on at the moment. I’ve been plat for a couple of years now but it’s like the SR system is determined to move me down. I’m sitting with a 60-65% winrate but struggling to maintain SR. I always lose more than I gain even if I play out of my mind.
My overbuff stats are decent so it’s not like I’m underperforming. Makes you wonder why you bother playing.
I think if you switch characters mid game it punishes your SR. Like I tend to play Mercy or defense and Lucio on attack. Or I’ll switch to Brig if there is a Tracer.
The other day i won a match 5 vs 6. I hard carried with mei. I was the only dps and I got 18 sr. 18. On 5 vs 6.
Alot of unranked to gms going on more now than ever and most of them start in plat and alot of players also Smurf in plat more than any other rank. Explains the heavy skew in pbsr.
Maybe pbsr is also based on your mmr and what sr your games are at. I play with my 3K friends, still perform well and have been getting like 25+ sr per win and <20 sr per loss. Even if I get around a 50% winrate I still gain sr. Still not sure how it works.
Last week at a higher Sr than I am now. I was gaining. 30 Sr a win. Now I am gaining 20 when I pop off and losing 30 like a sudden switch flipped. I was also performing poorly when I was gaining almost 30 a game.
im literally almost at my wits end with this game. there is zero consistency in this game. lose a close match and lose 25+ SR. lose a match that was clearly lopsided to the to enemy favor lose 30+SR. win a match clearly in the enemy favor and win 19 SR. lose the same match in the enemy favor and lose 27 SR.
it’s utter garbage. i won a game that indicated we are the underdogs by 300SR but when we wreck these clowns I got 19SR? but when i lose a game and we are the underdogs by 300SR i lose 27+ SR?
makes total sense. i believe in the system. i.love this game so freakin much but not only does this algorithm make zero sense but this community is just the absolute epitome of toxic waste
Ive gotten 56 kills and 6 deaths, in a game and only got 25 SR… As Main Tank. I think it looks at the role and what the Best people in your rank are doing and the worst on that role. Tanks are suppose to play OBJ (the system doesnt take in consideration of taking space and playing aggressive), healers are suppose to heal, and DPS are suppose to get kills. If you are performing well in these areas then you will get the appropriate SR. Also 22 kills as DPS are low (and for your rank are probably low as well) so you didnt get much.
22 kills for two quick rounds of control I think is pretty decent how many kills can you possibly get in 100 to zero both times.
check mmr comparison next time at map load screen. Probbaly enemy team had lower elo players than u, or someone left the match before it ends.
You did well, and losing the full SR amount when you feel you had a huge impact is annoying, but I do need to correct you on that quick maffs there. 32% kill participation means your friend tagged 32% of the enemies that died, same that you tagged 64% - these can be inclusive of each other, so quite likely he helped kill half the enemies you helped kill. It does not mean the rest of the team were only responsible for 6% of the enemy death tally.
Hopefully that makes some sense. To put this in perspective, there was a bug that for a while Brigitte was getting “kill participation” from anyone that had been healed by her (and not yet died) even if the armor pack had fully worn off - allowing her to have 90%+ kill participation rates every game.
PBSR right now feels out of whack, but could just be they are trying to redistribute the bell curve, or it is bugged and a stat is being read as 0 so doesn’t give the correct PBSR adjustment.
